I lay awake sleepless in my comfortable, soft, bed, as if I drank 10 litres of straight caffeine. My brown, long, corse hair lay in a tangled jungle beside me. My ivory green and icy blue eyes stare at the ceiling in boredom, my eyes glued wide open. I could just count sheep, but I find it extremely pointless to me, I just end up more sleep deprived. A draft of cold air blows over my cold, pale skin , I pull up the blanket as high as I could to stop the chill running up my spine. I sighed knowing it's going to be a long night, nights are way longer when you're awake, especially if you have nothing to distract yourself with. Other than the shadow figures standing around my room, some appearing to move, otherwise their was nothing to focus on. It was alway at night how I realized how loud the silence is, normally it would be hard to notice with all of the distractions during the day. The silence is like a colossal drum played by everyone on earth was pounding in your eardrum. I was awoken from being consumed in my thoughts by the quiet creaking from down the hall that seemed to be getting louder with each step. I flinched as the loud creak of the door echoed around the room. "Miss Everdeen, are you still awake?' Said a soft spoken women at the door, she peaked her head in the doorway to reveal her blonde, messy bun and ocean blue eyes with her dark bags under her eyes.
" Yes Natalie, unfortunately I'm still awake " I replied in a breathy croak, she almost jumped ten feet in the air when I spoke. She swiftly past through the doorway to come sit at the corner of my bed. Natalie was my maid, but she always look after me. Every night before she went to sleep, she'd check on me before she went to bed. Every single time, I was awake. "You really need to get some sleep, you pass out regardless even if you try to stay awake." Natalie sighed, I could tell that she was upset. " Yes Natalie, I know I pass out eventually, " I paused, " I just want to the nightmares off,for however long it takes." My breathy voice so laced with tiredness, It would make a someone pass out." Alright, I'll leave you alone now. " Natalie finally said, breaking the silence. She got up from my creaky old bed and quietly tiptoed down the hall with each floorboard creaking at each tiptoe. Leaving me to the silence, and the thought of my head.Authors note
