The Cursed Moon

~Chapter 4~

 As I pull into my parking spot, two guys walked up to my car and opened my door. I look down at them and growl. 

"What do you want?" I ask as I try to pry his hand off my car door. 

The guy standing behind his friend ran his fingers through his red hair and smiled at me, showing off dagger-like canines. I shrink back and shake as the one holding my door grabs my arm and pulls me out of my car. I wince as he slams me against the tailgate of my truck. I grasp my arm and look up at the two of them as they approach me. The redhead puts his hand on my waist and smirks as the brunette walks over, his hands stuffed in his pockets.

"We know what you are.. there's no hiding it.." he says as he laughs and pushes me against the tailgate roughly and laughs as I growl at him and try to fight against him. I look over and see Kieth just watching this happen. My heart breaks, and I look down at the pavement, my hair falling into my face. I shake slightly from anger and start to cry. They laugh and look up at Kieth as he walks over and stands with them, his hands in his pockets and hair covering one of his eyes. "Aww. The poor baby is crying. So pathetic.." he scoffs as I shake a sniffle and cry.

 I start to laugh and slowly pick up my head. My eyes turn their deep yellow color, and my canines extend from my gums. I can feel my limbs aching to change form, my wolf howling in the back of my mind for the release. Keith looked at me with pain and sadness, but I couldn't concentrate on anything besides the tight grip on my arms slowly loosening. In a flash, I was out of their grip and sprinting away from them. They were taken off guard, blinking before I was out of their sight. Keith was the only one after me. He was directly behind me, almost teasing me with his speed. He could easily catch me, but he seemed to enjoy the chase. I got a good lead making it to the nearby brush of the forest. I hid underneath a thick bush, trying to catch my breath. My wolf spoke softly, weary, in my mind. 'You know we'll be faster if you change.' 'I can't! I don't have time. He's right on my trail.' I spoke back, exasperated. I was torn from my thoughts as the sound of footsteps crunching on leaves came closer. They soon stopped a few feet from the bush I was hiding in.

"Your scent gives you away, Kayda. Come out." He says as he chuckles slightly.

I sigh and slowly come out from underneath the bush and back up, so I'm not too close to him. My eyes shine as I look up at him. I look away and rub my arm, trying not to cry any more than I already had. I hated that he didn't help me at all, but. I still have feelings for him.

"Why are you doing this? Why do you act so sweet to me one second, then cold the next?! I'm so confused, and it hurts. Why?..." I ask as I shake from anger and sadness. 

My eyes start to tear up, and I try my best to fight back the tears, but they escape and slowly roll down my cheeks. Keith looks down and rubs his neck, cursing at himself. He walks over to me and pulls me into his chest, placing his hand on the back of my head and my lower back. I push at his chest, trying to get away from him, but I soon gave up and just put my hands and forehead against his chest and cried. After a while of just standing there in each other's embrace, the two guys from earlier walked out from the brush and snickered as they shoved their hands in their pockets.
