Nightmares

"Eleven!" Mike watched in horror as she killed the demogorgan , screaming as she was slowly and painfully fading away. Blood oozed out her nose and ears and veins bulged out her face, he was powerless to help her. She had her last cry then she disappeared. But the demogorgan stayed. "EL! NO!" The creature approached Lucas and Dustin . He  heard their screams as they were ripped apart. Blood splattered on his
face. "ELEVEN! LUCAS! DUSTIN! NO!"

Mike woke up with a start, sweat dripping from his brow. Tears cascaded down his cheeks as he  broke down into his pillow. "I am so sorry El, I broke my promise. I let you down."

Steve and Nancy were cuddled up in her bed. Steve kept telling Nancy jokes and although they were so bad,  she would laugh anyway. But something seemed off. She then heard sniffles from mike's room and it immediately broke her heart. "Nance, what's up?"
"Can you hear that? The sniffles?"
Steve listened closely and could hear them too.
"It's mike Steve, he is crying. I am going to go get him. You ok with that?"
"Course "
She approached his door and the sniffles turned into full blown cries. Hearing this almost brought her to tears, but mike needed the comfort not her.

"Mike? It's Nancy. What's the matter sweet heart?" Mike sniffled.
"N-night-t m-mare." She walked over to his bed, sitting down next to him. His puffy red eyes glistened with tears.
"How about you come in my room , with steve and we watch star wars?"
"O-ok-k" Nancy scooped the small boy in her arms and carried him into her room. Mike could not hold back the tears anymore. He burst into tears on her shoulders , wetting her clothes.  She stroked his hair.
"It's ok , your safe." Steve saw how broken the boy was and was desperate to help.
"Can you tell us about the nightmare?" Mike nodded , wiping his eyes with his sleeve.
"W-when-n  w-we were at-t sc-chool and-d-d el-l w-wen-t-t th-then it g-got the b-boys." ( When we were at school and el went then it got the boys ) Nancy tucked him in her bed and wrapped her arm around him.
" Dustin and Lucas lived sweetheart, the demogorgan didn't get them."
" It got El"
"I know sweetie. I know."
"Steve, can you put star wars on?" Steve placed the tape in the telly. Mike snuggled up to Nancy then soon drifted off to sleep. She kissed his forehead and whispered. "I will always protect you."
