How long has it been? It feels like only moments since the vault closed, since the mercenary took Shawn.....and shot Nora. A sense of cold, calm, rage has been sending ice through my body, the feeling was not unfamiliar to me, many in my platoon were turned to ash around me. But I can't lose focus. Amethyst is also missing, and the Security Sentry bot that was in the corner is missing, but there was a fully burnt out fusion core near her pod. Everyone else down here is dead and gone, the radroaches eating away at the bodies over the years.

I sigh as I walk through the vault, seeing the chipped and broken paint along the walls, the skeletons wearing labcoats and guard gear. I see in the corner a collection of crates, as well as a weapon holder on the wall in a small cage. It looks highly experimental...and dangerous. But I need something deadly right now.

I approach the cage, looking at the lock and sighing, before a grin crosses my face as I spot some bobbypins on a nearby shelf. I open the lock with 3 pins remaining out of the 7 I picked up, the third being close to snapped. I pick up the weapon and do a small test shot, noticing the ice crystals that form on impact.

Nate sighed as he finaly saw his goal, noting that the vault looked worn down and rusted. He grumbled as he grabbed the Pip-Boy off of the skeleton, booting it up based on his memory of the military power armor version, allowing the use of V.A.T.S. and heavier weaponry. He pulled the control plug off the back, activating the bridge and doors.

As he stepped onto the elevator he looked at a photo he had tucked into his Pip-boy's sleeve, sighing as he looked down at his family's faces."I will find them both, I promise you Nora. Ready or Not Amethyst, here I come." He goes silent as the first tree-limbs come into view, full and bright with color and leaves, fire-flies filling the air over the river bank below him.

He feels as if the world had a chance to breathe in recent years, and that this thick grove may just be the start of what would come.

As Nate walked across the bridge he saw the skeletons of what were once his neighbors. Some of them were in positions that looked as if they had been running, others bracing or embracing eachother. He paused when he saw a child's skeleton, no older than 4 and sat at the base of a tree. Hours passed as he dug them graves, staying mostly silent until the task was done, he continued towards his house, leaving a small toy on the child's grave.

Codsworth was hovering around the neighborhood as Nate walked in, the Cryalizer strapped to his back as he entered his former home. He first went through the kitchen, picking up everything useful, before he slowly plodded towards Shawn and Amethyst's room. He gently sat down against the wall in there, Looking at Shawn's crib and letting a tear slip, his hand resting on Amethyst's bed, the sheets preserved badly, but the purple color still visible.

Codsworth floated in, nearly burning Nate alive when he saw him leaning against the wall. He helped him stand up and talked with him about the neighborhood going downhill in recent years. When asked about Amethyst he seemed to freeze up for a second, before seemingly forgetting about what had just been asked. After a couple repeated attempts Nate understood that someone had tampered with his memory unit.

He had a sneaking suspicion it was her handiwork, but he wanted to be sure. When asked about Shawn however, Codsworth grew worried, immediately suggesting a thorough search of the neighborhood.

After a period of time they came back to the old residency, both worse for wear, but several bags of components visible in Nate's hands. As he approached Codsworth he pulled out the tools needed and opened up the access panel on his back. He sighed when he saw his daughter's initials on the inside of it, as well as a Sign Language book wedged into it. He fixed the memory module with some assistance from his pip-boy, and finaly was able to ask about Amethyst to Codsworth. As he booted back up, Nate absentmindedly shot a rad-roach off the ceiling, the annoying mutation dropping with a quiet squelching noise.

Codsworth told me that he had seen a Sentry Bot roll through the hills, one figure riding it as it went at a leisurely pace, before he was shut off. Nate thanked him and asked Codsworth to guard the house as he went down the road, finding a gruesome sight of a malnourished mutated dog corpse and a human corpse wearing mangled armor. I took the shotgun and shells off the body, opting against taking the weak armor off the body.

As Nate approached the overgrown gas station, he noticed the german shepard perk up as he approached, the tail wagging as it's ears perked up, the dog's eyes staring as if waiting for a command. Nate finally got close enough to pet it, it perked up and sat up. Nate reached down and lifted up the collar, smirking at the name scratched into it.
"Dogmeat huh? Sounds like a military name!" He chuckle lightly, before sighing as he pulled the shotgun out, hearing the annoying digging noises of molerats. They were begining to be problems even before the wars.
"Well. Time to take care of the pests."
