Main Objective

The purpose of the book is to implement my own vision on animated movies that didn't do well either financially, critically or a mix of both. However, I may also give a make-over to animated films that have a poorly-made plot even if they made good amount of money. For animated films that I find could have potential or could even do better, I felt compelled to try to answer most of the "what ifs?" brought by viewers who took notice to detail. I'm writing a "what could've been." on animated films that could be masterpieces if they're taken in greater care.

My own rules

As much as I have many ideas, I still want to make sure the original plot/film is recognizable. This means I can't change the premise drastically or ever. I can still change the message t may deliver, but the synopsis can't be a completely different animated feature. Secondly, my rewrites have to stay mostly consistent. I can't change a comedy film to a dark/edgy narrative.  I also have to avoid making a 90-minute story to a 2-hour long feature. These rules are for me to not get too crazy for this side project.

Why I'm doing this

I've been a fan of animated films ever since I was six. What sparked my interest in this movie genre is the fact that I'm a fan of Barbie films as a kid. Although none of the films are visual masterpieces by any means, I tend to love watching them on repeat for the fun engage-able plot, lovable characters and amazing messages each films expresses. Since then, I've been trying to create my own fairy tales and stories, even though none of them worked out at the end.

As I got older, I decided to try out to more animated features, even online. I started to ask questions on what could've been done better and how certain aspects could've been improved (mostly plot-wise though). I enjoyed scrolling through YouTube comments on reviews on animated films to hopefully find anonymous suggestions users brought up on the featured film. The more I did this, the bigger of the urge to do something increases. And so, I decided to pour all of my thoughts and opinions out here in this book. For fun, I want to explore possibilities certain films could've done to  become memorable and fun for their audience (and possibly everyone). To help out with my writing skills, I'm finding it useful to insert my own suggestion for animated plot lines that weren't so great.

Disclaimer

I do not own any of the featured films discussed in this book. All of them belong to their respectful owners and companies. This includes the setting and characters. However, I occasionally may add fan-made characters in the rewrite, but only for the intent to help with my version of the narratives. I own the rewrites, which are my versions of the stories.

I do not take in consideration of the demographic or possibly the time-length. I may shift the intended audience if it's for the sake of the direction I'm aiming for. I'll do my best to have my rewrites match-up the film duration as much as possible. I'm not completely ignoring these qualities, I just find them not always necessary to think about if possible.

I'm not "fixing" any of these stories. "Fixing" to me sounds a bit dismissive to the original creators. I could do nothing for the outcomes of any of the film my any means. All I could do is make changes that I find to be helpful for the original plot.

I have no malicious intent for any of the featured films. I'm not creating these rewrites to insult the film's original plot lines. The rewrites are created purely for fun and entertainment.

Although rewriting plots of poorly-made films are nothing new, I thought of doing them to hopefully strengthen my writing.
