Chat Noir still loved her, even after all that had happened. He couldn't let her go. That scream- her scream- came from his father's house. Hawkmoth's house.

Chat Noir quickly connected the dots: Hawkmoth must have taken Ladybug. He broke into a sprint and ran towards his former home. His father had taken everything away from him; his friends, his family, practically his entire life, but he wasn't going to take his lady. Nobody was going to take her. Not if he could help it.

His already messy hair flew behind him as he ran towards Ladybug. He approached the house slightly out of breath, but the adrenaline coursing through his veins gave him an energy unlike anything he had ever felt. He ran up to the gate. Chat Noir ignored the no trespassing signs and extended his staff to vault over it. He ran up to the front door and found his father's secret elevator. The door closed and he pressed the button that would take him to his father's lair and hopefully to Ladybug. A year ago he had discovered the elevator, but he had always thought it led to another office. Now that he knew his father was Hawkmoth, he concluded that the elevator must lead to some sort of secret hideout. Chat impatiently tapped his foot on the floor and ran his hand through his sweaty hair. The massive adrenaline rush was fading fast and he started to worry. Failing was not an option. Ladybug's life was at stake. After what felt like forever, the elevator doors slowly creaked open to reveal a tragic setting.

Chat Noir stood in shock at the scene unfolding before his eyes. Ladybug was lying motionless on the ground bent in an unnatural, disturbing position that would make anyone nauseous. His father had the audacity to smile as he bent down and reached for her earrings. Without warning, Ladybug let out another ear-piercing scream of pain as she began to de-transform in front of them. A tired, out of breath creature appeared next to Marinette.

"Mari?" Chat Noir placed a hand on the wall to keep his balance. His mind was spinning. Marinette is Ladybug. She is his lady, his bugaboo. His mind drifted back to all the times he had been with Marinette. The smiles. The laughs. The rejection. It had been her all along. Ladybug said she was trying to bring back someone she lost- a guy from her school. He realized then and there that he was that guy. Everything she had done, she had done to help him. Did that mean...? No. He pushed that thought from his mind. She didn't love him... right? He looked at Marinette who let out a pained gasp. The pain she felt hurt his heart, but at least she was alive.

His eyes locked with Hawkmoth's. Chat Noir glared at his father with pure hatred. How dare he hurt someone so close to him. Someone he loved. All of the rage that had been bottled up inside of him for years exploded at that moment. "How dare you? Get away from her! You locked me up in this house for years. You never let me see my friends. You took everything from me. Everything. But you will never, ever take her. I won't let you do that, Father." Chat Noir took a menacing step towards his father.

Hawkmoth stepped back and away from Marinette when he heard those words. "Son? Is that you? Is it really you?" He began to walk over to Chat Noir.

"NO!" Chat pushed Hawkmoth away. "I'm not letting you fool me again." He extended his weapon and began to attack.

"Wait!" Hawkmoth raised his hands in surrender. "I'll stop. I'll stop the akumas, the fighting, everything. I was doing all of this to help you and your mother, and when you died... I knew I had to get you back. Now that you're home, I can stop. I will stop. I promise. I've never been the best and showing it, but I... I love you."

The fiery anger left Chat Noir's eyes and was replaced by hopeful tears. "I've always wanted you to say that. I love you too... dad." Chat nearly allowed himself to be happy. His dream of being a family again was coming true, but sometimes happiness can cloud a person's judgment. The happiness that he let in allowed Chat to make a nearly fatal mistake. Chat Noir dropped his weapon and welcomed his father with open arms.

Hawkmoth made his way towards his son and wrapped him in a warm embrace. Stealthily, Hawkmoth reached for his cane. He clutched the handle and with one swift motion, plunged the end of the cane into his son.

Chat Noir staggered away from his father doubled over with pain and clutching his stomach with his hands. He looked down at his hand which was sticky with blood. The fire returned to his eyes but was immediately extinguished by the pain he felt both physically and emotionally. His father not only stabbed him in the stomach with his cane, but he stabbed his heart with anguish and betrayal.

"Goodbye, son. You have no idea how much this hurts me." Hawkmoth raised his weapon to attack once more.

One more hit from Hawkmoth sent the weak and powerless Chat Noir flying into a wall. With a loud crash, he dropped to the ground next to Marinette. Both of them were covered with blood and bruises. Chat reached out a trembling hand and gently touched a scar that ran across Marinette's cheek. "I'm sorry Mari. I failed you." Chat was ready to give in to the darkness that was closing in on him. "Goodbye, M'lady." He stole one last glance at the girl he loved.

A/N: So I know I said that there are just going to be a few more chapters in this, but I had a way better idea for an ending so it's going to be longer than I thought.

Also, I've started to write a second Miraculous story and I'd be so happy if you checked it out! It's called Miraculous... Gone and I really like the concept of it so far!

I'm not trying to beg for votes or anything, but if you really do enjoy this story so far voting for it makes my day! Nobody else reads my writing, so I don't get a ton of feedback on it and if you give it a vote it makes me feel like my writing is at least kind of good and makes me feel unbelievably happy! (yes... I know how desperate that sounded but I'm not sure how else to word it!)

I'll try to publish the next chapter soon, but I'm going on a vacation next week to visit my best friend so I probably won't get a ton of writing done (we'll be too busy binge-watching Miraculous... or Friends... or the office!)

Dang... that was really long. Sorry!
