a one-shot where our favorite little fry works at a cafe.

"can i have a cup of strawberry tea with strawberry shortcake?" sora ordered, "warm, strawberry tea." she passed the cashier a note.

"okay." the cashier replied, nonchalantly. sora scrunched up her face. weren't normal cashiers supposed to take your order and say 'have a good day' or something similar? why did he just say okay?

sora paid no heed and just left to sit at the table in the corner, waiting for her order to come, the cafe she was at was open from 10 am to 9 pm daily and she was a frequent customer. every day, she would go there at least once, or maybe even twice. every time she went, she would often observe her surroundings, yeah, the cafe has people coming in at different timings but it was never packed. someone placed her order on the table and she didn't look at the person but just muttered a small thank you and started to dig in.

the workers were relatively the same as well, however, she noticed one thing, almost every job had different people doing different shifts every day, yet only the cashier remained the same every time she came into the cafe. the cashier was tALL AS F- i mean, the cashier was tall and looked like he would've played basketball like a pro. he has short curly blonde hair and rectangular glasses. he looked, seemingly attractive to sora?

sora always had a thing for tall people, maybe it was because it was a trait that she didn't have. standing at 5'2 was honestly enough for her but she had wanted maybe a bit more height. she was a volleyball player, a libero, but at volleyball practice or matches with other schools or practice matches, she had been teased because of her height, calling her a shorty or just straight-up comparing their towering heights with hers.

sora took a glance at the time and quickly finished up what she had ordered, before she left the cafe, heading home. they had a match tomorrow and she desperately needed sleep, her sleeping schedule was messed up to the point where she might not even get sleep.

they had lost. their only chance to proceed to the spring tournament, they lost.

sora just left the school, hands in her pockets with headphones on, she wanted to drown herself in music and ignore the feeling to just let everything out and breakdown. she had to do that in her house. there were already tears threatening to fall in her eyes, her nose was red as the tears in her eyes glistened, she needed to calm herself down. they were bound to lose, they were against the number 1 school in the prefecture, but she had hope, she was desperate to win.

instead of going home, she went to the cafe. she needed to calm herself down, she didn't want her family to see her in this state.

she entered the cafe, walking to the counter. "strawberry tea, warm." she said with a raspy voice. she was trying not to let the tears drop until she got her drink. she took out the money needed only to realize she only had enough for a cold strawberry tea. "damn it." she muttered as she changed her order. "cold, strawberry tea." she said, putting the money on the counter.

"okay." the cashier said, taking the money. sora was used to it already and just left to go to her usual seat in the corner.

little did she know, her order had been changed a tiny bit. the cashier, who most of you probably already know, tsukishima kei, had changed her order to a warm strawberry tea, but accepted the money for a cold one. he had noticed her change in voice and expression, of course, this wasn't the first time he had seen her with puffy eyes and a red nose as some days were colder than the others but today was different, her eyes were glistening, probably from tears and she sniffled slightly a few times, he knew something was wrong.
