A rather dull day's monotony was broken with the sound of a doorbell ring. The chime reverberated through the home, but Shin and Mr. Amaki weren't very intruiged. Terra, on the other hand, perked at the sound excitedly.
He jolted out of the shared bedroom between himself and Shin, leaving the feline in a flash. Eagar, loud footsteps thumped hard as Terra made way to the front door. The strange action of Terra made Shin curious.
"Uhm, Terra? What's that all about?" Shin asked, trotting down the stairs.
As Shin made it to the bottom of the stairs, Terra was already walking away from the door - nearly bumping into him. Held by Terra was a fairly large cardboard box, labels checking out that it was something bought solely by Terra.
"Terra, what's in it?" Shin questioned, intruiged.
"Oh, heheh... some gifts, that's all. How 'bout we head up to our room and open them up?" Terra coyly remarked.
The fellow feline nodded, and the two headed back up to their room.
Seated crisscrossly on the large, poofy bed, the box rested between them. Nudging it closer to himself, Shin cut the tapped top with a claw swipe. He opened up the box, peering in, and...
"Wh-What's the meaning of all this?!" Shin's face was tickled pink.
Terra smirked and replied, "What? I thought you love those sorts of things. I sure know I do."
"I never told you I liked these sorts of things... yarn balls, a feather wand... and- oh my god- a.... a scratching post?!" Shin blushed immensely, a radiant smile gleaming.
"Well... a few days ago I found some worn-up yarn in your desk. I figured, 'hey, why not give my love a surprise gift?'" Terra blushed, softly laughing at himself.
"I used to... try and behave exactly like humans. I never... I never felt comfortable about being a cat beast-man and all... I feared you wouldn't like me, way back when, if I acted on my feline side... despite you having it too. God, heheh, I'm such an idiot." Shin bittersweetly reflected, smiling with watery eyes.
The tears were short-lived, and Shin leaned back, sighing and letting out a soft chuckle.
"Fufu...~ Terra... thank you. I've said many things, many times, I don't feel like I can express it enough. You've helped me so much... you make me comfortable with myself. With being gay... with being feline. You showed me it was alright..." Shin sighed with a sense of relief.
The cat raised his head, facing Terra. Smirking rather cutely, he asked, "I wonder how you're able to, fufufu~"
Smiling and giving a light laugh, the human replied, "Well, maybe it's that we're one in the same, y'know? 'Reading eachother's minds' and stuff. Feliform telepathy?"
Shin moved in close, eyes to Terra's. His silky, soft furred hand gently held Terra's cheek.
The golden gems of a purple feline gazing at the blue pearls of a black cat.
Soft fur and rough fur brushing against their counterpart.
The soft brushes of tails, swaying and twirling like ribbons.
Different, yet the same.
Shin softly spoke, breath gliding down Terra's neck.
"I think there's a surprise gift I have for you...."
....
A kiss.
