"Why does it feel like I've been hit by a bus 10 times over" I say trying to open my eyes.

"Well it wasn't quite a bus, but it was a very, very large man" I hear someone say next to me, I turn my head to see Carli looking at me with a not so happy look.

"Don't give me that look, I'm not in the mood" I say knowing full well I'm about to get a lecture from the 19-year-old.

"Well, clearly you know what you did was incredibly stupid then" She says raising her eyebrows up at me.

"Of course I knew it was, but there was no way in hell I was letting Julie fight that guy, at least I have some training in that area" I say defending myself. I slowly push off the bed and sit up.

"Obviously, there's no way you're going to stop doing stupid stuff so there's not much else I can say other than, how are you feeling?" Carli asks me.

"Fairly good to be fair, ribs are a bit sore." I say placing a hand on my side in instinct.

"We all watched him, it looks like he practically snapped you in half" She tells me laughing slightly.

"Yeah well, it practically felt like that too," I say laughing a little too.

"where is everyone by the way?" I ask having noticed it's only the two of us in the room.

"well it's currently Activity Time so everyone is off doing their stuff," Carli tells me, I nod my head in understanding but then look at her confused

"Wait, then why are you in here?" I say.

"I told the people that I couldn't leave you on your own because you could puncture a lung so they let me stay with you" She explains, I nod my head and lean myself back against the wall.

"This whole thing has gone to shit" I say reflecting on everything.

"You don't say" Carli replies taking a seat next to me.

"I'm trying Carli, I really am. but I don't know how much longer I can stay strong for everyone. It's eating away at my mind and I can feel myself going batshit crazy in this place." I say telling Carli how I'm truly feeling.

"I know Skye, and I can't thank you enough because some of the younger ones lookup to you and see you staying strong, so they know there's nothing to worry about. I know it's hard, we are all finding it incredibly tough, but we are all here for each other, to help eachother us through it, one day at a time." Carli says putting a hand on my shoulder.

"I just miss them Carli, my mum and dad, I miss them so much," I say finally breaking down into tears as Carli pulls me closer to her.

"We all do Skye and that's why we are not going to stop until we figure a way out of here," Carli tells me with determination in her voice.

The two of us just sit there for a while, telling each other stories and memories of our life back home, when a group of people come through the door.

"Skye!" Mal shouts coming straight to me.

"Hey Mally, how was lessons?" I ask giving her a hug as the rest of the youngsters all come over.

"Alright I guess, we were learning how to fix an engine," She tells me shrugging her shoulders.

"Don't lie, you loved it and you're good at it because you're small," Emily says making everyone laugh while Mal pouts

"Not fair," She says crossing her arms over her chest.

"Aww I'm sorry Mally, you know I love the fact you're small, you make the perfect cuddle buddy," I say winking at her making her smile again.
