Short Story:
I looked out the window of the helicopter. The blades keeping us aloft cast a shadow over the woods below. In the distance, mountains cast shadows over the valley in between them. Birds flew over the treetops, gliding into shapeless forms. A small smile creeped onto my lips.
The pilot turned around, grinning at me. I smiled back, turning to my best friend beside me. "You ready for this Sapph?" Hunter said. "Dang, I wish I could come with you. But noooo, apparently I'm 'too violent'." She said, making air quotes. I just looked at her. "Okay!" She sighed. "I am violent. But I still really want to go with you!" She pulled her dark hair into a ponytail, tucking a few flyaway strands behind her ear. Her hazel eyes flashed with yellow sparks, mirroring the stars. She crossed her arms, the black leather of her old jacket crinkling over her dark grey t-shirt. I played with the ends of my bright red hair, braided modestly to the side. "I don't trust these brits." She muttered, glaring at the mountains as if they had done her a great wrong. I rolled my eyes.
"Yes, you do," I replied, tugging at the skirt they had given me, along with the light gray top and plain black tie. The skirt was not long enough for my liking, and not at all flattering to my wide hips. The tips of my fingers started to tingle, and I began to lose feeling in them. I looked down at them. I was tightly clutching my shirt, my knuckles turning white. My fingertips were starting to glow red. I sighed, releasing the cloth and shaking my hand. My fingertips shifted back to their original color. "I just don't understand why they chose me of all people to go on this mission. I don't get it." I sighed. I glared at the suitcase at my feet. "Stupid agency. Stupid mission. Stupid school." Hunter gasped, putting a hand on her heart.
"Sapphire!" She gasped, feigning shock. "What are these profanities escaping your innocent mouth?" She laughed, doubling over. I rolled my eyes again, staring out of the window. In the distance, the night sky shimmered, the stars shifting a bit. I sat up.
"What's that?" I asked the pilot. She turned back to me.
"That my friend," she chuckled. "Is your home for the duration of the mission."
We passed through the shimmering force field, my skin tingling. I grinned at the sight before me.
A medieval castle loomed in the night sky, a dark sky behind a darker silhouette. It radiated magic, seeping into my pores. I breathed deep, closing my eyes. My great aunt was here. I belonged here, if only partly.
"Welcome to Hogwarts," the pilot said, lowering the helicopter into a clearing in the dark woods.

I stepped out of the helicopter, waving to Hunter as they took off. I watched them until the helicopter lights were indistinguishable from the stars. I turned around, wiping a tear from my cheek. I looked up, seeing a very large, VERY hairy man approaching me.
"Ya Sapphire?" He asked in a gruff voice. I nodded. "Well, I got ta' get ya ta' Dumbledore. Ya got alot ta' talk ta' 'im about." He grabbed my suitcase, lumbering off into the woods. I scampered after him, jogging to keep up with his long strides. We walked in silence for a while, me tripping over giant roots and rocks. He coughed awkwardly. "Uh, pardon my manners. I don't really talk ta' anyone besides, uh, Harry, Ron, an' Hermione. Name's Hagrid." He stuck out a huge hand. I took it, his fingers covering half of my arm.
"Sapphire," I replied shakily. We came out of the woods to a hut surrounded by an assortment of vegetables and various meats. A giant bloodhound bounded out of the hut, tackling Hagrid's legs. Slobber sprayed everywhere, including onto my new clothes. I sighed, wiping it off.
"No, Fang," Hagrid grunted. "Down, boy. Sorry 'bout that. He gets a bit excited 'round company an' such. C'mon. Got ta' get ya ta' the castle. Yer already late." We sped towards the castle until we were bathed in light from the monstrous entry doors. A figure cast a long shadow onto the grass. Hagrid coughed. "Sorry Professor," he mumbled. "They were a bit late in droppin' her off."
"No worries," a feminine, authoritative voice flowed from the figure in the entryway. "I'll take Miss Skky to Dumbledore's office. Thank you, Hagrid."
"Anytime, Minerva," Hagrid smiled. He turned to me. "If ya ever need anythin', come ta' me. Got that?" I nodded, softly smiling at him. He then walked away, back towards his hut.
I whipped my head back towards the woman. "What was that all about?" I scolded, placing my hands on my hips. She jumped at my outburst.
"I don't appreciate your tone, Miss Skky," she replied.
I rolled my eyes. "Oh, cut the teacher act. Are we going inside or not?" She smiled at that, reaching her arms towards me.
I rushed into her arms, burying my face into her shoulder. "I missed you, Aunt Minerva." She held me tighter.
"I missed you too, Sapphire," She said, tears cracking her voice. "I missed you too."
