I'm hopelessly

Surrounded by dreaming pages

And moribund script

The letters that were

Once friends are now

Liars and thieves

They betray their creator

But they will never

Liberate their world

As they once did

My own

With insulation of expression

But what once

Was comforting

Is now oppressive

Cloying

Sugary but not sweet

Bitterly saccharine

Now longer serving

To distract

But to emphasize

That something is missing
