I woke up the next morning covered in sweat. For some reason I couldn't stop thinking about Oscar, not even in my sleep. That was the first time in a long time that my dreams had been so intense. In my dream, Oscar came to my house and told me how he felt, again. Only this time I reciprocated the feelings and then one thing led to another and I think me and Oscar made a baby. At least that's how it seemed. I've never had sex that intense before. Ugh, and today was Tuesday. On Tuesdays the Santos ran collections.
Collections stands for a lot of different things. It could be collecting new recruits, collecting prophets bodies, collecting from the protection ring, or collecting new packs that touch down from Mexico. Tuesdays were always stressful days for Oscar. So every Tuesday I would come over to cook and make sure that Cesar left for school on time. I also made sure that Cesar remembered to pack his bag for Ruby's house. Oscar didn't like for Cesar to be around on Tuesdays. The barrio would be way to hot for him to be at the house.
I looked at my phone. It was 5:45am. Enough time for me to shower and get dressed and to the Diaz house by 6:30. I quickly showered and threw on some shorts, a long t shirt, socks and my vans.
I grabbed my jacket as I left out my front door and walked over to the Diaz house. Once I walked inside I quickly got to work making chirozo omelets, they were Cesar's favorite. Oscar liked them too but he couldn't eat them unless he had fresh pico de gallo on the side. Luckily he had some left over from making tacos the other day.
"How do you do that?"
As I used a spatula to remove the omelets from the pan, I looked up to see Cesar walking over to the table. I smiled, "Buenas dias Cesar. You ready for day two?" He nodded. "As ready as I'll ever be. Quick question, does my hair look okay?" I giggled, "You mean ever since you started using hair gel?" He shrugged. "Yeah." I walked over and kissed his cheek as I sat his plate down in front of him. "Of course it does. You look fine Cesar. Do you have your bag for Ruby's house tonight?" He nodded before looking down at his plate.
He gave me a small smile before digging into his omelet. I sighed. It's crazy that I've pretty much watched him grow up. Cesar was the one thing that kept me and Oscar going everyday. Freeridge can make you feel trapped and depressed really quick. But Oscar did his best to make sure Cesar never felt like that, so did I. "Thanks for the food Riella. See you later." I smiled at him as he walked out the door. Then I wiped the tear that I hadn't realized fell from my eye.
I started straightening things in the kitchen when I heard Oscar's room door open. I put his omelet in the microwave and warmed it so it would be hot for him. When I turned around I saw a short brunette girl with blond streaks in her hair walking towards the front door with Oscar's hands wrapped around her waist walking behind her. She turned around and stood on her tip toes to kiss him before leaving out the front door. Oscar closed the door and turned around.
I was standing there, holding his plate in my hand, frozen. I didn't want to move, I didn't want to speak. I didn't know what to say. I WAS the one who said forget that all that happened the other day. So I couldn't be mad, right. He looked up at me and straightened up. "I didn't realize you was here Riella. Uh, that was um..."
"Nina, I know." I sat the plate down before I dropped it on the floor or threw it at him. "I made you an omelet. Pico is in the fridge." I tried to hurry up and leave but he grabbed my arm. "Riella.." I tried not to look at him. "I should go Oscar, I know you have a long day ahead of you." He sighed and turned me around, pulling me up to face him. "Riella, are you mad?" I couldn't even face him. What was wrong with me? I've seen Oscar with girls before, this isn't anything new.
But our feelings for each other WERE something new. I wasn't even sure exactly how I felt about Oscar. All I know is that he's my best friend and seeing him with a girl has never bothered me before. He lifted my chin to him. "Riella?"
I shook my head. "I'm fine." He squinted his eyes and looked into mine. "Are you sure?" I nodded my head quickly. He kept looking at me and raised his eyebrow. "You know I know when you're lying Riella."
I pulled away from him. "Pendejo eat your omelet before it gets cold. I'll see you later." I tried to fake a smile. "Call me if you need me later." I rushed out the front door and started walking over to my house. On the way I saw Nina, she was slowly walking home and talking on her phone. I could overhear some of her conversation.
"Yeah you heard me puta, he would not fuck me. No matter what I did. Spooky? Shy? Nah, something or somebody else has his attention, but I'm gonna change that. I'll talk to you later."
So he didn't fuck her?
