Demonic presence chapter 2.
The period of time after finding the body was a blur. It seemed like life was on fast forward. The police came, we were escorted out, my parents drove us home, called each and every one of the other group member's parents, and here we are now. It was 7:00 pm.
I still can't believe it. Daniel can't be dead. He just hiding out in his room or at church with his family, he can't be dead.
I can't seem to convince myself of this. I know he's dead. I saw his body, the brutal scratch marks, the coarse rope wound around his neck. He was dead. The police ruled it as a suicide by hanging, but if it were, he would have done it quick and painless. And those scratch marks, he couldn't have done them himself.
It isn't as important as to who killed him; the real question is: why is he dead?
The killer must have had a motive. If he just killed him in the heat of the moment, the inflictions wouldn't be so detailed, so graphic.
Daniel was a good guy. A little annoying if anything but still, he had a good heart. He was genuinely nice.
But none of this mattered to the killer. He still took his life.
We were all sitting on my couch. The TV was on infomercials, but no one was watching.
We were all thinking, remembering Daniel.
My dad broke the silence, walking into the room. "Would you all like to sleepover? I'm sure none of you want to be alone tonight." he asked, giving us understanding looks.
A chorus of sad "yes's filled the room.
My dad left, leaving us alone.
"Is he really dead?" Priya asked.
None of us bothered to answer. She knew he was. She saw his body.
Bailey suddenly stood up and headed to the kitchen.
A few minutes later he came back with a huge bowl of ice-cream. Mekayla gave him an envious look, implying that she wanted one too. He gave a huff, walking back into the kitchen. He reappeared with a much smaller bowl of plain vanilla ice-cream.
He gave it to her, and she gave him a dirty look, but shrugged and took it anyway.

Everyone was asleep. I couldn't.
I saw his face every time I closed my eyes.
All my friends were sprawled out on the floor in sleeping bags. Bailey was asleep in his own room and my parents we in their own bed. And here I was, awake in my bed.
I heard a soft bang coming from down the hall and I cautiously got up from my bed.
It couldn't be any of my friends, they were all asleep. It definitely wasn't Bailey, seeing as I could hear his loud snores coming from down the hall. Was it my parents?
I stepped around the sleeping bags and grabbed the nerf gun sitting in the corner of my room- just in case. I tiptoed over to the door and slowly opened it.
I looked down the hallway and was surprised to see a figure sitting in the black chair by the window, staring out of it.
I inched myself closer, and he turned his head toward me.
That definitely wasn't my mom or dad.
"What the hell are you doing in my house" I demanded in a whisper, holding my nerf gun in swinging position. The styrofoam bullets may be harmless, but if I hit him the head with the gun hard enough, it could cause some serious damage.
"No please, don't come anywhere near me, I don't know if I'll kill you or not." he pleaded.
I took a step closer and his features became more clear. He looked about my age, and had blond hair hanging in his face. He was quite pale and taller than me. They were a deep blue, but they were filled with overpowering sorrow. What could he of possibly been through to be this sad.
How did he get here? All the doors are locked.
"Answer the damn question." I whisper yelled,
"Satan sent me." he said, staring out the window again.
"I don't appreciate the jokes. Tell me why you're really here." I exclaimed, getting frustrated.
"I speak the truth." he said, his eyes locking on mine.
"Are you an escapee from the crazy house on the other side of town?" I questioned, totally serious.
He gave me a frustrated look. "Fine, don't believe me, it won't save you. I'll still kill you, whether I want to or not."
"Wait, what do you mean?" I asked, shooting him a confused look.
"I wish I could save you. You don't deserve to die. No one does." he exclaimed his voice full of anger and remorse.
"Please explain. I don't understand." I pleaded.
"No, I have to go; your friend is waking up."
I glanced back at the open door, and heard a shuffling coming from inside the room.
"Just tell me your name at least" I huffed.
"Nex." he whispered.
I hear steps approaching the door and I looked back at it.
Lesley appeared through the door and gave me a questioning look. "What are you doing?" she asked.
"I'm just talking to..." I looked back at the chair to see it was empty. "Myself. I was just talking to myself.
"Okay...?" she said hesitantly.
I followed her back into my room and got back into my bed.
Was Nex ever really there?
Or was it just a dream.
That's what it felt like, a dream.
Like this whole thing, the ouija board, Daniels death, Nex was just a dream- a nightmare if you will.
It had to be.
Soon I would just wake up, and everything would be back to normal.
Oh how I wish I could allow myself to believe that.
Eventually I succumbed to my exhaustion and let nightmare filled sleep overcome me.
I wish I didn't.
