What author isn't, right? As an author, I understand the pains of creating an amazing product and then having to figure out how to get your work out to the masses and garner some book sales.
Today's dilemma is that consumers are super smart. They want to be sold to without knowing they're being sold to as they don't enjoy the traditional commercial or interrupted social media experience. You have to give them something they want to see in the way they'd best like to see it.
The great thing is, you no longer have to flounder when trying to create content your audience will use and appreciate. Use these tips to amplify your sales.
1 Turn Your Brand Into an Experience Your Audience Can Consume
You MUST create campaigns that will entertain your ideal customer and encourage them to happily purchase your work. People are naturally inquisitive. Use that in your favor. Show your progress as you complete your book. Talk about the challenges of creating the right title and choosing from different cover designs. Next talk about your characters and share important parts of their breakdowns or memorable lines with a snazzy graphic that resonates with your target market.
2 Determine and Understand Your Readers
As an author, you have to be able to define your reader. Use your Facebook and Instagram analytics to understand the ages and other demographical information of those who follow and support you. Learn what you can about your genre of writing and the types of people who follow it. This will help to guide you as you create social media posts, graphics, and sales campaigns for your book.
3 Use SEO to Enhance Your Facebook Page
Your Facebook description and about section are important. In fact, this information is searchable by Google's web crawlers. Adding specific genre-related keywords will help others find you when looking for a specific genre to follow or when they are seeking new books to read. Be very intentional with your words and even use your keywords in the first few characters of your social media posts as they are also searchable if made public.
4 Improve Your Instagram and Facebook Content Strategies
We spoke about the types of content you can use to engage your target market through social media. However, when trying to sell more books with social media marketing – you must also use the tools the platforms have made available to you as they will boost your impressions. For example, use your stories and the add-ons available within them. Add a person jumping up and down if it draws attention to your story. Always use the hashtag option and link the story back to your website, Facebook page, or Link Tree when you are pushing for a sale.
5 Prepare and Set-Up a Digital Sales Promotion for Your Book Launch
After you've asked all of your family and friends to share your release information, there are several digital tools available to help you prepare for your book launch. Goodreads is a great resource and even has reasonably priced advertising available. They allow for book giveaways wherein Goodreads members enter to win copies of your book.
You may also do countdowns and readings from portions of your book to engage your audience until its release.
