It hasn't even been a week since they have to, again, buy a new bathtub. Well, at least their last one proved useful longer than the other ones did, which lasted on an average of 3 to 5 days. It really has become a common occurrence to see Hanguang-Jun carrying a bathtub to a little quaint house, which Wei Ying and Lan Zhan are happy to call home on the quieter outskirts of Caiyi Town.
Wei Ying asserts that his husband should be doing all the carrying because it is his fault for breaking their last bathtub, and also the ones before that. He also always reminds his husband that his body (and the bathtub) is frail and weak—so how can the so-called Righteous Hanguang-Jun ever bully him like this? However, both of them know very well that Lan Zhan would never mind any of Wei Ying's requests. Carrying bathtubs is just the least of his worries.
Even with the large wooden object resting on his right shoulder, Lan Zhan manages to do it with such elegance and poise that no one would think a man carrying something that huge could ever achieve. Wei Ying is confident that his husband's arm strength is unparalleled; surely, as Lan Zhan is someone who finds doing headstands a way to calm his mind. That is something that still amuses Wei Ying. "Aiya, Lan Zhan! Let me carry Bichen for you. You're already doing all the hard work; it's the least I can do."
"Mn."
Wei Ying, being the ever dutiful husband, grabs Bichen from his husband's hand and walks beside him. He can't help but smile at how otherworldly his husband looks despite the bathtub being lugged around like nobody's business. "How can somebody look this elegant while carrying a bathtub? Oh... Only my husband can look so good while doing it," Wei Ying chuckles to himself. Lan Zhan catches it and shoots a questioning look at Wei Ying, to which he replies, "Oh, nothing, Er-gege! Just admiring my amazing husband, hahaha!"
Wei Ying has always been very generous with his praises about his own husband. He can practically see Jiang Chen facepalming and practically hear him rolling his eyes, that's if hearing an eye roll is even possible. No matter how often such praises have been sung,
Vinegar Has Never Tasted So Sweet
Lan Zhan never seems to tire from hearing them nor to take them for granted. After being with him for so many years, it's no surprise Wei Ying knows how to get the better of him. With ears still flushed, Lan Zhan looks like a man on a mission with how fast he is striding—undisturbed, as if he didn't have a bathtub in tow. Wei Ying can't help but drink up the scene before him—Lan Zhan with red flushed ears, trying so hard to not seem affected by the many compliments his husband throws so naturally at him. Simple, yet romantic words thrown to him is enough to make Lan Zhan want to make Wei Ying shut up with a smothering kiss.
The walk to their home is not and never a quiet one with Wei Ying playing Wangxian on Chenqing. Too many a time, he steals a few glances at Lan Zhan and an ever mischievous smile will always grace his face. How he never gets tired of doing so, Wei Ying fails to fathom. He continuously admires his husband and how he is the greatest man in the whole world. Each comment Wei Ying throws would result in a look, stare or wink that aims to try to create an expression out of his husband. On the other hand, Lan Zhan would remain quiet or once in a blue moon nod in response when, in fact, he really is feeling embarrassed.
Hearing the same comments almost every day never fails to make Lan Zhan feel embarrassed regardless if Wei Ying jokes around or is being serious; it will always result in very red ears. Bystanders can only watch from a distance while inwardly laughing and fawning over the mismatched pair who are walking side by side down the street—a man clothed in white and blue, single-handedly carrying a bathtub and another man in black and red, fluttering around the other like a butterfly attracted to a pretty peony, while spinning a dizi using his right hand and holding a white sword with his left.
