It's 2:45 am, its gotten late and all he wants is to be alone.

He watched all their friends come and go. Sitting on a rusty and rotting porch step of an acquaintances house breathing in the chilled air while the lingering drunks stumble back and forth into the blue dark.
A sharp creeky slap of the screen door forces him to snap his head back. A (h/c) figure steps out of the muffled building and plops down next to him on the old wooden planks. She nearly gave him a heart attack, he thought she disappeared early on in the night and away from him. Grey desperate and tired eyes meet (e/c) unreadable ones.
This is the chance he never got, to make his move. But they just talk about nothing. Chatting about all the people they've met in the last five years and if they will even remember them in ten more. His heart breaks at the thought of his name and face leaving her mind for good. He wont forget her at all, her laugh lifts his heavy heart, her eyes seep into his soul. All these tiny moments they've had together will stay with him beyond forever.
He lets her bum a smoke even though they made a vow to quit this past winter like they have many times. He's tried it twice before but like this,

And as the smoke leaves her soft lips,

It will not last.
