All Jazmyne could remember was feeling cold. So cold. Head empty with only thoughts of trying to get herself warm. She just wanted to be by a fire, or have more layers of clothing, or even if it was just two degrees warmer. Instead of being in this vast, icy wasteland of nothing but icy snow and freezing water and dense trees and with her frozen tears.

Jazmyne breathed the cold crisp Alaskan air while holding onto the freezing railings of the boat. She stood broad at the front taking in the view of the icebergs. Periwinkle colored whales glided into the icy water and black and white puffins with orange colored beaks mingled with each other on the cliffs of mountains. She waved at the seals and said hello to the beautiful brown silky otters. The wind viciously whipped in her face as she felt the forming wind burns on her rosy cheeks. Her long, wavy thick hair flowing in the wind probably getting tangled, despite putting it up earlier in a pony tail. She held down her winter coat as it tried to whip in the air from the vicious winds. Splashes of cold water hit her face every so often, sending a shiver down her spine every time, along with her nose turning pink and going numb from the icy wind and below freezing temperature.

As the boat made its way past the beautiful marine creatures, gliding in the water, the ferry was heading straight. In front of her was a mountain, with puffins and loons and buffleheads resting on the edges. It felt like everything was in slow motion, the captain waiting the very last second to turn the boat, having everyone on their toes thinking they were going straight towards the rock. The ferry glided in the water around the giant rock, seemingly taking forever. The anticipation of turning the corner made her eager to see what was on the other side, turning her head ready to see what it was.

Jazmyne watched as the boat turned the corner, excitent filling her soul. The glacier stood tall and cold, with pieces of it on floating in the water and some on the land from where it had fallen. It was slightly melting caused from global warming, watching as drops fall down from where the glacier had overhung. People were all around it sight seeing, some were inside being as quiet as they could, viewing the cold nature of this icy object. Jazmyne stood in awe, excited to explore the mysterious caverns of the glacier.

"Wow." Jazmyne whispered.

She felt a chilly hand on her back. She spun around on her heel startled from the touch to see her father, Matias, stand next to her. He warmly smiled at her before looking up around of them, following his eye-line she realized what he was looking at.

The ferry finally made its way past the attraction site that Jazmyne had her eyes on entire time, she realized why she was really there. Tall and broad stood a cold, icy, twinkling hotel, made for only the wealthiest individuals. It was made from the most expensive materials, making it last through harsh weather conditions and making the guest feel like they were wrapped in pure Alaskan gold. It stood alone far into the vast land of snow away from the boarding dock.

"No way." Jazmyne leaned forward onto the railing, staring at the luxurious size of the hotel.

The hotel Jazmyne and her parents were going to be staying at for their 3 weeks vacation was a 5-star hotel. All alone in a tiny island off the gulf of Alaska, with the only way of getting there was on a boat, or sometimes in the winter on a bridge made up of ice. The building sat there by itself all lonely, with the only other things on the island were vast wastelands of 4 foot high snow leading up thick heavy forests, surrounded by mountains and rocks and glaciers.

Jazmynes parents had been talking about going on a trip to Alaska for a while now. Her dad falling in love with the cold state when he had to do some training there about a year ago.

She didn't know how her dad was affording this, being her dad was just a Staff Sergeant in the US Army, and this kind of luxury was made for the upper class, people of peak wealth. Her mom, Valeria, was an astounding veterinarian, she loved animals her whole life, bringing 2 dogs and a cat into her marriage with Matias, who already had a dog. With Jazmynes parents always being busy she eventually started taking care of their pets, loving them with her whole heart.
