"Mrrr..."

Little feet pattered against the ground as they trotted along, an equally tiny body scurrying through the dirt streets of a small village in the backwater of a city.

Carrying on its head was a basket full of fruits and vegetables, all bouncing with each step. The tiny body belonged to none other than one of the Demon Lord's various monsters: a Goblin.

But, as any story would tell, the main focus of an enemy is always there with a catch. This Goblin was... reformed, in a sense. A young creature that was born in a different setting than most of its kind.

Instead of being raised by Goblins, this creature found its way into the world by a woman who had already escaped the clutches of the small, green beasts. Being surrounded by creatures of the light expanded its natural and instinctive way of mind. As such, it knew more about empathy and curiosity than any of its brethren, and when it wandered into a village, all alone with nothing but a walking stick, it was confused.

Why were people looking at it as if they were repulsed, or afraid?

It took a seat in the center of town and just... did nothing, but sway its feet back and forth, playing at the dirt with its stick. It wasn't until a curious child, a farm girl, approached the Goblin with an apple as a treat did the town grow curious as well. For the first time ever, they saw a Goblin that was docile to humans, and growing up in coexistence, that Goblin became an adult before long, standing only at a height of 3 feet, like any other Goblin, but with a body much stronger.

What should have been a beer gut were three abs, and instead of lanky, sleek arms and claws, the Goblin gained muscle, and kept himself clean through the human traditions of bathing. Upon closer inspection by the humans of the village, many could see the features that defined this Goblin were more smooth and kept. Sure, it remained in the eyes of the public as the ugly mug of a common Monster, but even with the features of a beastly sight, on the inside, people were well aware that this Goblin was more human than Monster, and this body it has been shaped into was all from the hard work and hospitality of one single human, who took pity on the Goblin's plight.

This Goblin, now, was returning to her, his glowing yellow eyes set on the cottage in front of him. Tapping the door with his sandle, he made his way inside, where a crackling fire caught his ears. The caretaker of the home was cooking dinner.

"Ah? Goblin-kun? Are you back already?"

A harmonic, motherly voice came from the kitchen, making the Goblin snap its attention to the doorway as the elder of the household walked out through it, holding a cutting board. She gave the tiny creature made from evil a smile filled with graciousness and friendliness, something you'd never seen anyone give such a creature like himself.

The household caretaker, whom most call 'Onee-chan', sat the cutting board down on the table, coming over and taking the basket off the little creature's head.
