Guardian Demon

'The end is where we begin.’ Thought 13 year old Chelsea as she stood on the edge of a cliff, staring down into the rolling waters down below. Spreading her arms, she said, “Good-bye life. Farewell Mom, Carson, and Aerith. I will miss you very much but its time I moved onto my next phase in life. I want peace and I have fought hard for it, being strong all through the divorce and Emma’s death.”  “And killing yourself is the best way to go? If I didn’t know better, I’d think you’re afraid.” At the unexpected voice Chelsea started and stumbled forward, shrieking in surprise as she started to fall. 

 Strong fingers reached out and latched on to her thin wrist and she was yanked back into warm arms. Her nostrils suddenly filled with  smoke and she coughed, shoving the person back and hacking while she stared at the figure. Shaggy black hair shadowed his pale face and she could of sworn his eyes flashed crimson before returning to the pits of darkness and emptiness. But what really shook her up was the steadily emanating smoke from his muscular, black clad body. It curled around him and gleaming orange embers floated among the shifting cloud. 

 “W-what are you?” She quavered, stepping back into the safety of the looming trees. “What am I?” He repeated, smirking and this time she definitely saw his eyes turn red. “I am your guardian demon!” Blackness took her and she sank to the ground, eyes rolled back into her head. “Remember, I will always be there.” His voice whispered, inviting and dark.
