Chapter 6 PART 1
Tessa's POV
I saw Matt before he saw me. Twice in a day; a record, no? And to make it worse, I didn't WANT to see him either times. Why? Why me?
"Tessa!" I heard him call. I spun on my heel and faced the voice. Matt was jogging toward me, a bag swinging from his wrist.
"Matt," I said, with false surprise.
"Didn't think I'd see you here," he said, running his fingers through his dark brown hair. I blushed.
"Yeah... I um... Uh..." Matt grinned.
"Is there some reason you can never talk to me when I'm around?" he teased me.
I giggled a little and hit him lightly with my Victoria Secret bags. We stood there smiling at each other for a moment, and then he said, "so... Are you going to say something?"
"I uh..." A smirk of satisfaction crossed his face.
"You're so annoying," I told him. Matt's expression went from false hurt to surprise and then to happiness.
"She speaks!" he exclaimed. I laughed more. Then he glanced down at my bags.
"Hmmm, shopping for some fancy clothes?" he asked me, smirking. I looked down at my bags. I went shopping at Victoria Secret, Aerie, WetSeal, and American Eagle. The blush that never left my face darkened.
He started laughing and said, "I think you bought out all the stores."
I turned on my heel and walked away. As I did so, I said, "you wouldn't know, you only shop at Party City."
Matt let out a low whistle and called after me, "the girl strikes again!" I rolled my eyes and kept walking.
"Don't pretend you don't like me!" He yelled after me.
I whispered, "oh trust me, I'm not pretending."
Matt's POV
Watching her walk away was probably one of the most entertaining things I've seen in my life. She walked with a purpose, yet you could tell she was trying to get as far away from me as possible. I didn't understand it. First she acts happy to see me, the she acts as if she wanted nothing to do with me. Maybe she thinks she's being mysterious? It was so confusing. Typical woman.
I looked down at my Party City bag. "Don't worry, she really does like you," I told it. A few giggling girls passed me. I smiled and waved, making them giggle more. I had a seemingly exciting affect on them, but it wasn't them I wanted to affect. It was Tessa.
Tessa's POV
I sauntered past multiple stores and kiosks. Occasionally I would give a glance to any staring guy. This wasn't because I was interested, this was in case Matt was still watching or following me. Inside, a war was raging between my brain, my heart, and my common sense. "You like him. Admit it," my heart said.
"Do not."
"Then why do you try to make him jealous?"
My common sense stepped in. "You want to let him no that you eyes aren't set on just him."
"Shut up," I mumbled aloud. A passing girl looked at me weirdly. I just rolled my eyes and continued walking. Making my way through JCPenneys and then to the truck, I thought. And thought. And thought. And after, not a single thought even counted. I wasn't sure what I wanted anymore. I was stuck.
