THE FEMALE ALPHA

Chapter Four

There is a wave of anxiousness and nervousness among the pack members. There are also hushed murmurs and whispers all over the pack about the hunters.
Word on the kidnapping of Dante spreads like a fire.

Everyone looks at me nervously as they eagerly await for what I have to say.

"Hello everyone, I have called you here today because I know you've heard rumors about Dante's disappearance, but I'm here to clarify that Dante was kidnapped by hunters. However, I want to assure all of you that he is going to be freed. I also want to warn anyone with any useful information about the hunters to submit it before the situation gets out of hand.

Our witches, Jane and Florida are going to cast spells at the boders to prevent cases of Intruders into the territory.
And as you all know, Gamma is on his way coming, he will bring the vaccines which all of you will be injected with so that you all become resistant to wolfsbane. "

I sigh and glance at the crowd to see if everyone is listening attentively. Once I'm satisfied with what I see, I continue
"I have also decided that your training will be doubled. All of you will be thoroughly trained to defend the pack. Also, you'll train on the self defense tactis such that Incase of an attack, each one of you will be dependent on themselves. I will excuse the elderly and pups from training.
You will mostly train in your human forms because it is our war against the humans."

Daniel and Tester are standing by my side and I notice them scanning the crowd for any unreasonable acts or protest.
I look to my right and catch Xavier smiling proudly at me.
When I'm done with the speech, I dismiss them and they get into their training

"Alpha, I thought it would be important to let you know that Gamma is already here and he is waiting for you in your office." Tester informs me.
"Thank you Tester, I'll get to him right away." With that, I walk up the stairs to my office. 
In the hallway, I can smell his scent. That of cidar and oak tree

"I'm sorry for the delay Alpha. I had a problem with my flight. I had misplaced my documents which meant I had to redo the whole process which caused the delay. He immediately says when I get in the office.

"It's alright Tim, I'm glad you are here. We have very limited time to get to the bottom of this problem at hand. We need to act fast because this is a dire situation that needs to be acted upon immediately." I say somberly.
All this time I notice that Tim's eyes are transfixed to the floor. He has no courage to look into my eyes.
This is so unlike the Tim I know who is always sprightly and fearless. I keep staring at this unusual character, I must say I'm shocked.

However, he can still feel my eyes digging holes into his face. He tenses up then blurts out, "I'm sorry Alpha, it's just that I feel guilty about everything that has happened. I am obligated to protect my pack members but I feel like I have already failed in that.  If only I was present, Dante would not have been taken away.

"Hey, you don't have to be sorry for anything." I say affectionately. I am ordinately proud of my Gamma. He is already taking the blame that he shouldn't.

"You know Tim, my trackers confirmed that the founder of Cultrid organization is a wolf. I don't understand why he is busy destroying his own kind." I say while looking at my laptop which is placed on the wooden table just next to a bunch of books and pack documents.

"I don't understand why he does that either but one thing I'm sure of is that we need to send in spies. Do you think we will get volunteers to help with the task considering the fact that it is very risky?" Tim asks

"Tim, I have been thinking about this issue for quite some time now and I have come to a conclusion. I will personally go to Cultrid. It is a hard decision to make but I'll do whatever it takes to bring back Dante safely. 

Tim opens his mouth to say something but I cut him off with a wave of my hand before I proceed. "You being the second in line, I want you to play the part of Alpha while I'm away.  You will be the acting alpha that means you will be required to take  drastic decisions as the commander. This is the reason why I was so impatiently waiting for you to arrive." I know Tim is itching to say something but I don't spare him a second to do that as I proceed, as if reading his mind.

"You don't have to worry about my safety out there. I already figured out that the moment I step inside Cultrid organization and they realize I'm a wolf, they'll certainly kill me. So I came up with a plan whereby Flora, with the help of the witches Jane and Florida, are going to cast a spell on me. The spell will conseal my identity as a werewolf." I give him a lingering look and wait for any questions but he seems to be listening closely.

"The procedure of consealing my identity may as well be risky, as I have been told by Flora. It may lead to one completely losing their wolf if anything goes wrong during the process, but as you already know I am ready to do whatever it takes to keep my pack safe."

At this point, I can see Tim struggling to get the correct words out of his mouth. He sounds as if his vocal cords have been paralyzed.
"I'm sorry Alpha, but I cannot support the idea of you going alone to face the enemy. You can always get somebody else to do that instead of you. You are our Alpha for Christ sake, kindly reconsider your decision." He clearly begs me and this annoys me further

"Thank you for your concern, but I've already made up my mind. I'm going ALONE. I can feel my wolf fighting to take over. 

Before I even proceed, I catch Tim's face. He looks like he has already zoned off. He is obviously mind linking someone.

I move to the other side of the table where the office phone is carefully put in place. I dial Xavier's number and as soon as he receives it, I yell into the phone.
"I need you in my office right away." Before I could hear what he has to say, the door bursts open and Tester and Daniel walk in.

"Is it true man? Is the alpha really going to Cultrid? Tell me this is a joke Tim." A striken Tester says.
"Yeah man, this is a crazy idea. We cannot let our Alpha  go face those sycophants alone. That's utterly insane!   Daniel says.
The two keep throwing questions at Tim who also appears to be utterly bereft of words. They are attacking the innocent soul who has done nothing but try to stop me.

"Guys, stop talking about me as if I'm not present in this room. I know it's a crazy idea Daniel, but I have no option. I have to go. Dante needs me. All those werewolves need me and I can't sit here and do nothing at all." I look at the three and they are not pleased at all with my idea.

"Are you really going away alpha to spy in the Cultrid organization?" Xavier Yanks the Door open while yelling at the top of his lungs.  I can suddenly feel the tension in the room as they patiently wait for my answer
They are Hopeful that I might say it was just a joke.

"YES" I simply say in my alpha tone. I Know all of them love me but I'm not gonna sit around and let our enemies defeat us. They need to get over their fears and understand that being alpha requires sacrifice for ones people.

"I don't mean to disagree with you Alpha, neither do I underestimate your ability. But for our own good, we cannot be at peace knowing that you are in the midst of the enemy alone. I don't doubt that you can do it alone but we need assurance that you will be safe. Therefore if you don't mind Alpha, take my brother with you. He is human and will not require any spells to be cast on him. He is going to be good company. At least Alpha, you'll need someone to talk to." Tim says emphatically, then gives me those puppy eyes which I have to say are quite irresistible.

Everyone in the room surprisingly supports Tim's idea and they hopefully look at me waiting patiently for a positive response.

After some minutes of weighing my options, I decide to go with the suggestion because it's quite clear that the leaders before me won't give up so easily.

"Tim, inform Flora to be ready for the procedure immediately. And Tester, get Jade be prepared for our mission."
