"Are, are you sure you want to move all the way across the world to South Korea?" my mom asked me for the billionth time.
I smiled, "Yes, mom, hence why we're here at the airport."
She sighed, "Well, it's just so far away from everything you know."
"That's the point, we've gone over this. I need something new and different. And I got this great job. It's a one in a lifetime opportunity. If it's too much, I'll move back home. I promise." she nodded. I checked my watch, "Okay, I really need to go now or I'll never make it through security on time."
"Oh, okay," my mom pulled me into a right hug, "I love you and I'll miss you!"
"I love you and I'll miss you too!" I pulled away from the hug, "We can call and text everyday, okay?" she nodded, trying to hold back tears. I pulled her into another hug, "I'm going to come back for birthdays and holidays. It won't be too long."
She nodded and released me from the hug. "Well, you better get going. You don't want to miss your flight."
I nodded and grabbed my carry on, "I'll see you in a few months!" I said, getting a little choked up, "Love you."
"Love you too." my mom said, a faint smile appearing on her lips.
Reluctantly, I turned my back to her and slowly started walking away. After taking a few steps, I turned to look back at my mom. I waved at her one last time, turned back and headed through security.

After the long layovers and even longer flight, the plane finally landed in Incheon. I grabbed my carry on luggage and deboarded the plane. Once off, I went and collected my luggage and went outside to get a cab. After getting all my luggage in the trunk of the cab and telling the driver the address to my apartment, I texted my mom letting her know I made it. Even though it was late there, I knew she would be waiting up for my message.

Y/N: Hey mom, I made it!
Mom: Oh good! How was the flight? How were the layovers? Did you make it to your connecting flights alright?
Y/N: The flight was long, but I did get some sleep.
I was also able to sleep during my layovers, so that was nice.
Mom: Oh good I'm glad
So are you just on your way to your apartment?
Y/N: Yup, driving there now
Mom: Well good!
Let me know how it is!
Y/N: I will! And I'll send photos!
Now go to sleep, it's late.
Mom: Okay, have a great day! I love you so much!
Y/N: I love you more! Goodnight!

I put my phone down, tears welling up in my eyes. This is a good thing, I thought to myself, wiping away a runaway tear. To distract myself, I pulled out my headphones and turned on my Stray Kids album. I closed my eyes and tried to relax for the rest of the drive.
Pretty soon the cab arrived at my new apartment. I got my luggage, paid and thanked the driver and made my way to my room. When I entered my apartment, I saw something sitting on my kitchen counter. I left my luggage in the front room and walked into the kitchen to see what was waiting for me. Once there I saw a fruit basket sitting on the counter. I picked up the card next to the basket and read:
"Y/N,
We are so happy to have you on our team! We hope you enjoy the fruit. Get some rest and we'll see you tomorrow.
-JYPE"
I smiled and set the note back on the counter. I walked into the front room, sat on the couch and turned on a drama. After a while my stomach began to growl. I walked back into the kitchen to see if JYPE might have left any other food. I opened a cupboard and found some rice, then I opened the fridge to find the ingredients to make tteokbokki alongside some kimchi. Excitedly, I began making the meal while snacking on some fruit from the fruit basket.
Once it was done, I took my mean into the front room to continue my drama. After an hour of yelling, laughing and crying, I paused the drama and went back into the kitchen to clean up and do the dishes. When I finished cleaning, I decided I should start unpacking some of my bags.
I took my bags into my bedroom and began unpacking my clothes and decorations for my bedroom. I then moved onto the bathroom, then the kitchen. After about two hours of unpacking and organizing, I decided to get ready for bed and finish unpacking another day. I took a shower and dried my hair. Then I put on my pj's, got into bed and set my alarm for tomorrow. I sent my mom a quick goodnight text and quickly fell asleep.
