Imagine Deckard calling his wife on their anniversary telling her he can't make it to dinner before an explosion is heard on his end of the phone and her call got cut off.
~~~
Deckard watched them exit the room before he took out his phone and called the most called number on it.
"Baby?" he asked when someone answered but didn't speak.
"Hey," she said, a vague response he was expecting.
"Happy anniversary, baby. Did you get my gift?"
"Don't want to open it," she said stubbornly.
"Why not?" as if he didn't already know.
"Because you're not in it," she said, he chuckled softly.
"I know it sucks, babe, but I'll me home soon,"
"You always say that,"
"Open the gift," he said. He heard paper tearing and a box opening. He heard her gasp making him smile.
"Babe," she said, he could tell she was smiling. "I love it,"
"I knew you would, just another for your collection,"
"I miss you,"
"I know, baby, but I'll only be a few days,"
"It's our anniversary, Decks," she said, "I wanna show you my gift in person," he bit his lip hard. He knew all too well what that meant.
"I know, hun, I know," he sighed as he paced the room. "I promise I'll be home soon,"
"You never keep your promises, Decks," you teared.
"No, baby, don't do that to me right now. Don't cry,"
"I don't want you to die, Deckard. I don't want our baby to grow up without a father," she said, he sighed, he hated when she cried, it'd break his heart hearing his woman cry.
"She won't, (Y/N), you're exaggerating again,"
"And you never give me a reason not to!" she shouted. He sighed, looking at the group talk about whatever through the glass wall.
"I don't know if I can take this anymore, Deck," he froze hearing those words.
"What are you talking about?"
"I can't live like this anymore,"
"What are you saying?" he narrowed his eyes, going back to pacing. He's had nightmares of her saying those words that he'd never admit to having.
"I want you home, baby, I need you home," he sighed softly at her words, mostly in relief.
"And I'll be home to rip that gift of yours to shreds," he said with a smirk hearing her moan for him. "you're such a tease,"
"Be home in one piece, okay?"
"I will,"
"No blood,"
"No blood," he chuckled softly, saying something but she couldn't hear.
"What? Baby, you're breaking up," she said, moving from her spot to get a better reception. "Baby, can you hear me?"
"(Y/N)-" the second he said her name, there was an explosion and the line went dead.
"Decks? Deckard?!" she called for him, redialing the number but it didn't go through.
"Please, please, please, Deck... no blood."
