A Price to Pay

“Woooh!” Jasmine pumped her fists in the air as Jake shoots the basketball into the basket making a goal. Athena and Lissette jumps up and down clapping their hands at their uncle’s victory. Aria stood up applauding with the rest and stretched her arms after three hours of sitting still to watch a game. That was a first. Gabriel yawned and took a deep in hale of the fresh air when standing up. Alyson looks over at her husband fully knocked out from the tiredness making her giggle and she shrugged her shoulder to wake him up. Anthony clapped his hands next to his wife with a big smile on his face. Jake has finally won his very first game. Adrian didn’t pay attention to the game the whole time they were sitting, but to his newborns. Matthew kept wailing for milk and Madison couldn’t stay still in Chloe’s arms. Sounds of whistles and claps filled the stadium as the basketball stars held up their arms with a medal in their hand. Pictures were taken and the audience was cheering loudly.

“I remember when we broke up, the first time saying this is it I’ve had enough, ‘cause like we haven’t seen each other in a month when you said you needed space.” Xavier pumps his fists in the air with pom poms in his hand. All the basketball players step aside to watch Xavier,

“What? Then you come around and say…” Xavier sang loudly making the audience cheer louder and Jake shakes his head with a smile. He wasn’t going to let his brother do this alone,

“Baby I miss you and I swear I’m gonna change.” Jake claps his hand over his head and the crowd started to sing along.

“Trust me, remember how that lasted for a day I say, I hate you, we break up you call me.” Xavier puts his hands up to the side of his face with a thumb  next to his ear and pinky near his lips.

“I love you.” Jake smirked and the crowd hooted. They all sang the chorus all together and Jasmine couldn’t wipe the smile off her face as she sees how brave her husband was to be in the middle of the court and cheer for Jake.

“We are never ever ever ever getting back together!” Athena shakes her head from side to side with a smile as she builds the sand castle.

“You go talk to your friends talk to my friends talk to me, but…” Lissette giggles placing a flag on top of the finished product. The girls high five each other and ran back to the adult where they are talking and happily cheering for Jake and Xavier.

“You are such a brave guy. I would be shaking to death if I had to do that.” Aria laughs and Xavier shook his head with his tongue clicking nonchalantly.

“I may not look like it, but inside I’m shaking like…” Xavier was about to cuss when Jasmine nudged his arm and he knew what she mean right away, “heck.” He corrected himself speedily without the kids noticing.

“You should’ve gone up with Xavier.” Adrian threw out and Jasmine pursed his lips with a smile,

“I’m pregnant remember? Getting up is a hassle.” Jasmine fakes a sigh and looks down at her fingers,

“Aunty, can you take me to the bathroom?” Lissette asks Jasmine when she saw Aria cuddling Madison up in her arms. Jasmine smiles softly at the little girl and nodded, taking her by the hand to head to the restroom by the shore on the beach. Gabriel peaks his head over Aria’s shoulder to look at the baby girl.

“She’s so pretty.” Gabriel admired the baby sleeping.

Aria nodded and pulled the kid closer to her chest to warm her up in the cold environment, “just like her mother.” She whispered lowly and Chloe overheard it.

“You know it. Don’t ever let that slip out of your mind.” She chuckles softly making Matthew laugh. Adrian’s eyes widen from hearing his son’s first laugh and his heart stopped.

“He just laughed?!” Alyson asks wide eyed and Chloe nodded rapidly,

“I just died of happiness.” Adrian leans down to kiss Matthew on the forehead softly.

“Hey, did you know listening to Mozart music can make the kids grow faster?” Jamie informed and Adrian looks down at Matthew then at Madison over in Aria’s arm.

“I don’t want the kid to grow fast.” Chloe whined and Adrian nodded running his fingers through the few strands of hair on Matthews head.

“It’s better if we can just always keep Matthew and Madison in our arms like this forever.” Adrian love every second he spends with his kids. It was much better than eating.

“I miss that.” Aria commented as she looks over at the couple.

“Pshh, I don’t.” Alyson retorted quickly stating her opinion. “I love Athena right now. Active and lively. She’s not a baby that’s lying in your arms all day anymore.” Alyson brushes her finger through Athena’s hair and pulls it up into a high ponytail.

“Mommy and Daddy love me.” Athena giggles thinking about her mom and dad always cooking in the kitchen and tickling each other.

“Well of course we do.” Ethan over to kiss Athena on her pale cheek.

“And we are going to have it soon.” Xavier jumps up at the slightest thought of his kid being born into the new world. He will welcome their little boy with love, happiness, and toys.

“You’re going to wor hard after the baby is born.” Ethan inquired and Xavier just shrugs his shoulder not caring much.

“I don’t care about that.”

“Sleepless nights will be encountered aplenty.” Gabriel knew the experience too well. Adrian nodded missing his sleeps that he used to have, but he couldn’t say that he hated it because he really didn’t.

“There’s always a price to pay to get something you love.” Xavier made a lopsided smile wanting to just see his little kid already and spend the countless nights being awake just watching the boy sleep.

Jamie smiles just thinking about her own kid, but then a thought struck her mind that she has neglected. Anthony didn’t talk about the kid with her since…ever. It’s hard to say that negative thoughts didn’t cross her mind. Did he ever think about our baby? Does he even want a kid with her? Jamie stood up to take a walk around the beach and maybe up towards the woods to just take a deep fresh breath of air and be somewhere far away from the beach to think peacefully. Alyson was about to rush and walk with her sister when Anthony took the first step and rush behind his wife.

“Jamie, stop!” Anthony yelled out from behind, dodging the bushes and trees hanging sloppily around. It only made Jamie walk faster to the point it was considered running.

“I said stop!” Anthony shouted, kicking one of the bushes and Jamie finally urged to an end in front of a tree. She didn’t turn around and stared at the bark, pouting.

“Say it quick.” Jamie said angrily. Anthony walks up to his wife and held her elbow, turning her around.

“Even if you don’t want the kid, I am not getting an abortion.” Jamie confronted straight out. No way was she going to kill her kid.

Anthony shakes his head, running his fingers through his hair, “I want the baby.” He sighed in defeat.

Jamie searched his eyes, it didn’t look like he wanted the baby at all, “You don’t.” She backed up angrily fell backwards when her leg caught onto something hard underneath the thick layers of leaves. Once her butt touched the ground, her back cracked and her side hurted, but the pain wasn’t what bothered her, but the hard object under the thick leaves that her hand came in touch with.

“Ouch.” One of her hand went to her side while the other digs under the leaves to find a finger. Jamie instantly paled up and froze. Anthony’s eyes grew ten times big and tried to pull his wife back.

“Melody and Marianne’s mom…” Lisstte’s hand dropped down from Jasmine’s grip and her hot breath turned cold at once. She is dead.
