Insomnia

Sleep, that's all she really wanted. It's what she craved. Acquiring it, however, was the hard part. She tried everything from waking up early, taking sleeping pills, to listinging to calming music. Nothing worked. Oh how she wish it did though.

Everytime she found something that put her to sleep her body just got used to it and it no longer worked. The voices in her head were the culprit. Thinking of old times, embarrassing times, sad times, happy times, times of love. Sometimes it was all too much.

How to cure it is what her knowledge lacked. Should she see a doctor? No, that will only make it worse. How can oneself lull off to sleep with such ease. To her it was simply a mystery. Try and try again, but it was always to light for her mind to sleep.

Everyone around her though it was her phone, tv, or computer keeping her up late. Truth is, that's all that would silence the voices. Oh how they would never understand. The only other thing that silenced the voices enough for her to sleep was the voice of the one she loves.

They didn't have trouble with sleeping, so most nights she was on her own. Voices filling her head on the oh so sleepless nights.

Some of those nights weren't so bad. She had many great thoughts about her next projects, her future, her lover. Some nights it was easier to fall asleep, but waking up was her problem. No matter how much she slept she could never get enough.

She walks and talks like a zombie, getting no sleep, or never feeling like she ever got enough, even if she slept for almost a day. Day after day this is one of her biggest battles, but they would never even try to understand. They would only judge her for the silly excuse.

Oh how she tried to sleep but her mind was a million galaxies away. Fighting a battle day to day, but barely winning.

Sleep is what she desires, but will rarely attain. Insomnia, you've won this game.
