broken wings

chpt. 2

It's been two week since the whole incident with me and Jullian, and I've been thinking about apologizing, considering that I did take it too far. Everytime I would get around him I would get choked up and forget what I was gonna say.

Justin began working and he started paying half off on the bills, just so that he could help mom until he leaves. Mom has been very supportive, and I could tell she is even happy again. Just last week she started hanging out with her friend's again.

They met when she was in hair school, but she didn't pursue doing hair, she decided she wanted to be a nurse, she told me the other night that she would begin back working again, and I was very proud of her, looks like things are gonna change around here.

It's Thursday, I've already taken my exams, and now we're just free lifting around school. Today is the basketball scrimmage game.

Me and Sarayah paid our four dollars and we looked to find a seat, as we were passing by the boothe I saw Jullian.

He looked my way and I looked away very quickly. I kept walking until Sarayah pointed out a seating area, we sat on the bleachers in the middle of the right side of the Gymnasium.

As we were further into the game, Sarayah tapped me "hmm?".
"Do you wanna go to the concession stand?" She asked.

I thought about it, but took up the offer and agreed. She got up from the bleachers, with me following behind her as we walked down the stairs.

I didn't see Jullian in his spot anymore, so I paid it no mind. We walked into the waiting area where the concession stand would be. "what are you gonna get?" Sarayah asked me.

I looked at the display "get me popcorn and a gatorade please".
"Ok" she walked up to the counter "I'll get two bags of popcorn, two gatorades and four suckers please".

"that'll be $10.00" she reached into her purse and handed him the money.
He gave her things to her, I started to look around as I waited on her, and that's when me and Jullian made eye contact. I watched as he walked up to the concession stand.

Sarayah walked over and handed me my things as I watched as she talked on the phone. We sat there and waited, she hung up the phone and looked at me.

"We got to wait on Lance and Khylil, they're just now coming in, so I told them we were at the concession stand so they could get something before we all sat down".

"That's no problem". I said, but deep down I was screaming inside, out of all times to sit and wait, it's now that we have to sit and wait.

As time flew by Jullian finally passed by me with a hand full of stuff, and just as I was going to sit down lance came in being loud as usual.
"ole girl was finna get these hands"
"boy what are you talking about?" Sarayah asked.

"This substitute teacher didn't know who she was messing with, she was all in my face telling me I was late and I should go to the office".
"The lady was acting like she didn't even want to show up". Khlil remarked.

"So I told her I wasn't late and I was gonna sit down, simple, but she didn't want to hear that so she started back yelling, she was lucky my girl didn't jump on her".
" long story short the principal heard her, told us to go to the game, and she was gonna deal with her" I laughed.

" she got what she deserved, you're not gonna talk to anybody how you want and think its okay ''.
"Go get what y'all want so we can leave" Sarayah told Lance and Khylil.

They walked over to the concession stand and got two popcorn, and two drinks. We made our way back to our seats and the score was 30-25.

It was five minutes into the last point and then we would have to head back to class, which was the last period of the day.
