Amina was never told of her marraige to sofo soldier until the day of the wedding ceremony. She struggled to protect her interest and personal opinion but could not defeat the strong heart of her father. Her mother Aisha who tried making things understood ended up heart broken and emotional.
AT MALLAM HARUNAH'S HOUSE
(In amina's room)
Amina: ...you can't trade me out like a slave. What you are doing is inhuman and totally unacceptable to mankind. Why must you treat me this bad father? Why must my worst nightmare come from you father? Why? (Sad face)
M. Harunah: I have no regrate to whatever that will happen to you afterward. I am happy today because I did not fail doing the right thing at the right time. Let Allah justify meif anything bad happens to you.
Amina: The right time father? Baba Na (my father), this is the wrong time for this. This is certainly the wrong time. (Tears)
Aisha: Amina calm down. I understand how you feel I also felt the same way when I was getting prepared to marry your father.
Amina: no mother. this feelings is separate from what you felt years ago. This century is more recent than the century you were when you got married to father. Things have changed a lot. You won't understand me mother. you won't.
Aisha: I do Amina. I understand you. I am a woman like you so trust me when I say I understand you.
Amina: You see, you were getting everything wrong. Am not a woman mother. Am a child and you must see me as a child to understand how I feel.
Aisha: What do you want Amina?
Amina: I just want to be a Child. I want to feel my Childhood life to the end if it all.
Aisha: You have been a child for nine years Amina. You've had enough childhood fun, haven't you? Amina it's time to be a woman. It's time to face the real world.
Amina: It is true that the smallest bird on earth would fight against the beast aiming at her young ones even when she has no hope of winning but you are just an opposite of it mother. Am disappointed in you mother.
Aisha: Amina there is no point fighting wars you can never win.
Amina: sometimes, wars are not fought because someone has to win or loose,...
M. Harunah: (cut's in) ...but for the purpose of restoring peace. Even peace needs to be fought for. Amina am not against you but you must understand what am doing. It has been our way of marriage and am not in any position to be an exceptional. Just like peace, you can also fight for your opinion but not with me. Am only playing my role as a Mallam and a father. Now hurry up. Don't keep our in-laws waiting. (Set's to leave)
Amina: Wait father. Like you said, let Allah justify you if anything bad happens to me, not just your only daughter but your only child. He sure will justify you. Am sure he will.
Aisha: Amina close your mouth. You don't talk to your father in such manner.
M. Harunah: (smiles) Allow the young girl flow Aisha. She is a smart Child and am proud of her. You see Amina, even your so called mother nature will not change your destiny. Now dress up and come out for proper marriage rituals. (Leaves)
Amina: (in tears) I hate you father, I hate you. I hate this world. I course this day. No!!! (In loud voice)
Aisha: Amina control yourself...
Aisha struggled to make Amina look good on her emotional state. She as well struggled to hide her sad face as a mother who's only child was leaving her forever.
