Ivy felt drained after the 16 hour journey she had endured from London Heathrow to Hong Kong airport. The stop over in Beijing was stressful as there was only an hour window and she had to run though security to get to her gate in time. Then she was sick on the second plane which felt much longer than the two hours it took. By the time she was in Hong Kong, she wished to be in Zhuhai at the apartment already but it was the last leg. She knew she could pull through, all she needed to do was to find the limo service which would drive over the bridge connecting HK, Macau and Zhuhai where she would be picked up by staff.
She quickly popped into a 7/11 to get a sprite to help make her feel better before walking all around the airport in search of the limo taxis. After asking 3 different information points, she finally found the right place and bought a ticket for the next taxi out. Cara messaged her saying two other interns were also in the waiting area and had booked onto the same car, so she should keep an eye out. She sat down, browsing on her phone which was finally connected to the free airport wifi and updated her parents of her journey.
"Hey" she heard as she looked up to see a guy with shaved hair and blue eyes. "Are you going to Zhuhai with Intern China?" She nodded, "yeah I am, I'm Ivy. What's your name?"
The guy sat down in the seat beside her, "my name's Daniel, have you seen the other guy going with us? Apparently he's here already."
"No, I haven't seen him. I've just been on my phone the last 10 minutes. Where did you fly from?"
"I flew from London Heathrow," Daniel replied, "You?"
"Same here, guess we were on the same flight then" Ivy said as they fell into a casual conversation finding out they were both from East London and had attended the same university. A staff member came up to them to signal it was their time to depart, they got up grabbing their bags and followed the woman.
"What do we do about the other intern?" Ivy wondered out loud, Daniel just shrugged. They didn't know what he looked like or what his name was, the only way to figure him out of the crowd was to find a foreigner and there were quite a few. Just as they were about to walk through the doors to the taxi, they heard someone shout "wait" and turned around to see a tall, lean guy run up to them dragging his suitcase behind him in one hand and the other holding a bag of food.
He stood still panting when he reached them, "you guys are from Intern China right? 4pm limo taxi booked?" Daniel spoke up for the both of them, "yeah that's us, jump in the cab."
They all gave their bags to the taxi driver and climbed into a suave 7 seater car which was super comfy and spacious compared to the plane. Daniel got in first, Ivy followed in the middle and the other guy got in last. He had quite broad shoulders which brushed against her softly as he was putting on his seatbelt.
"Sorry I didn't get the chance to introduce myself, I'm Felix. I quickly went to get food since I was starving and got stuck in the queue. What's your guys names?"
Both Daniel and Ivy introduced themselves and which cities they were from, and found out that Felix was from Manchester. Felix popped open a bag of tomato flavoured crips and offered it to Daniel and the girl beside him who looked super tired from the lack of colour in her cheeks but also still looked attractive with her hair thrown back and wearing glasses. As the journey went by, Ivy started nodding off so Felix and Daniel spoke quietly over her in order not to wake her up. Her head was falling forward which looked super uncomfortable, Felix didn't know how people slept like that. Surely it was easier to tilt your head back and sleep rather than having it flop forward and bounce around? Felix tried to move her head back softly but she just moved onto his shoulder and rested her head there snoring away lightly. Felix found it cute and let her stay there since they were quite close.
