"Ready for the grand opening, Lu?"
I turned around to see Axel, munching on a bar of Hershey's chocolate like always.
"Yep, just gotta finish the sign!"
Axel Cason had been my best friend since before we could even walk properly. Our moms were good friends, so we saw each other often.
"Hey uh... since we're best friends and all... mind giving me some advice for free?" I rolled my eyes. Of course Axel would want advice. He seemed to like a new girl every minute... even if most of them were a thousand miles out of his league.
"Sorry bro, but I'm gonna have to charge you for..." I trailed off as Axel waved a segment of chocolate in front of my face. He knew that Hershey's was my favourite chocolate.
I snatched it out of his hands quickly, stuffing it into my mouth. "Don't use my favourite chocolate against me!" I tried to say, almost choking.
"Didn't your parents teach you not to talk with your mouth full?" Axel asked, playfully slapping me.
"Shut up..." Once again my voice trailed off. This time because my eyes were drawn to a certain person.
Brad Evans.
"Still not over him?" Axel's voice snapped me right out of the daze that I was in. He must have followed my gaze.
"It's not that..." I muttered, turning my back on him and continuing with the sign.
"Well, what's up?"
"Nothing. I need to finish this."
There was a short pause from Axel. I knew he had picked up on my sudden change in attitude, but he didn't know what to say about it.
"I'll leave you to get on with it then. Bye Luna."
As soon as he left, I let out a long sigh. If I could trust anyone in this school, it would be Axel.
But even he couldn't know about Brad.
