Reunited and it feels so good?

Sometime earlier

Smack, smack smack. I listened to the sound of Gally and one of the maze girls patch a whole in the wood as I stared at a small creek. Something small had caught my eye and brought a horrible pit of sadness to my heart- a newt. I stared as its tiny body moved thru the stream and I had to close my eyes. I'd always done things my way- been a leader, found a solution, like in the maze. But I had shot newt. I hadn't found another way. And I know if Minho knew he'd never forgive me.
"Tommy," a voice called. Brenda. I smiled as she walked over to me, she'd really matured in the short time we'd been here, her face seemed older and she was less- crazy. We hadn't done much fighting or anything.
I felt Brenda wrap her arms around me and tuck her face into my neck- it was chilly, even though the sky was clear and the sun was bright.

-Brenda-

"Minho, he's depressed, I'm telling you, something happened that changed him, maybe thomas wasn't made to settle-"
"Brenda? Shut up about it. Really, after everything we've been through, I think it's okay he's a little depressed, I'll take him out later though, get him some fresh air. But he's a man, not a puppy."
I sighed, closing my eyes and nodding as I turned to leave. I stopped for a moment, briefly looking around. "There's someone out there, probably one of the younger kids," I mumbled before disappearing.

-Alaska-

"You know him?" I gasped quietly, the name stirring something inside me. I saw a longing in newts eyes, before he made a break for it, his limp causing him to stumble as he ran into the clearing, but he didn't slow.
"Minho?!" I heard his musical voice call. And the figure turned, his jaw dropping as he saw newts figure.
"So much for being strategic," I heard jaxx mumble. I lifted my hand, telling them to follow me- newt into the clearing.
"No.. You were.. Crazy..." I heard the guy mumble, but he reached for newt anyway, hugging newt like a long lost friend. And that's when I remembered.
His friends from the maze.
Minho.
I watched as Minho's eyes caught me, wobbly, weak, clinging to my knives, but obviously leading the group.
"I see you've made friends," he nodded, and newt just grinned. My heart did a flip flop, seeing his lopsided smile, floppy blonde hair messy as he admired his friend.
"What about tommy?" I heard newt whisper. Hearing that I stepped forward, intertwining our fingers.
I knew what thomas had done- a noble deed, but I also knew newt was probably feeling conflicted. His new life, meeting his old.
Minho's eyes flickered to our hands before he nodded, turning and heading straight into the city.
"We got some of the power up and running, groups of runners, we've set up a food system, it's a lot like the maze here." Minho paused, shaking his head. "I dunno how or why, but you survived, and you're obviously here for something. We can save the sappy shit for later."
"Blimey mate, I didn't think you shucks would miss me that much," newt chuckled as Minho opened a door to a building.
"You and her can go in, everyone else wait out here."

-newt-
As we jogged up the stairs in what used to be a mall, I found myself nervous. Tommy, my tommy, who would've done anything for me was here. Mine and Tommys relationship had been odd, I might've liked him too much. And even though I loved Alaska, having her here now brought me so many conflicting feelings. Sure, that fiery redhead had saved me, but tommy and I had survived the maze together, he did things for me no one knew about. I glanced behind me at Alaska, who hadn't said a word or touched me since she'd let go of my hand. Something told me she was pulling away again. That the brief moment we shared was over and she would be icy again.
"I see you've still been running?" I mumbled, Minho glanced back at me, running out of breath, exhausted from our travels. "Don't need to show off."
He shrugged, I'd noticed Minho was quieter than he'd been. Like he'd widened up, and realized not every situation needed a lot of words.
"Go on in. I think you need to be alone."
I nodded as Alaska crossed her arms, leaning against the wall, eyeing Minho before shrugging and turning away from me.
I opened the door and slid inside, it was dim, and quiet, but I could hear someone.
"Brenda, I told you I'm fine," I heard a tired voice mumble,
"Tommy?"
I heard a gasp and the sound of running feet before a booming sound echoed through the building and the ceiling collapsed.
