Darkness within

chapter 1

Raventer sat by a lake, he had left his bow, leather armor and all his supplies on some rocks and he washed himself in the clear waters. Once he got out he looked in his sack for some rations to eat, they were all gone. Raventer noticed some footsteps leading towards the forest that wasn't his, he immediately understood what had happen. Mostly out of curiosity he gathered his stuff and followed the trail. He was met with the sight of a very skinny half-orc girl eating his food he couldn't she much, her cloak covered most of her body, just the bonny green arms and her oily black hair.

R-"if you wanted to eat you could have just asked" he said, startling the girl. She immediately begun to run but she was so hungry she only made it a few feet before collapsing

R- "Sorry I didn't mean to scare you" he then walked over, took the sack that she dropped on the ground and walked over to her

Girl- "ghn.. Fine you caught me, you can kill me now"

R-"what kind of monster would kill someone for just wanting to eat?" Raventer left the sack in front of her, then he took a few steps back and sat down. The girl looked at Raventer with mistrust, but still took the food and started eating

R-"I am Raventer by the way, nice to meat you"

The girl looked at him but didn't talk.

R-"well, I can see you want your privacy, I can respect that." He stood up "if you find me and are hungry again, don't hesitate to ask ok?" Raventer smiled and walked away. The girl was taken back by his reaction but she still wasn't sure if she could trust him, yet again he fed her and didn't threaten her. She pondered these thoughts for a bit and shouted "my name is Zuri" as Raventer walked deeper into the forest

Raventer hunted for some food, since he too was hungry, he was also travelling towards a nearby village called Ittabell to sleep for the night, when he stumbled upon a camp with 3 men, they had a fire, food for days and some nice looking tents.

R- "Hello" he said "sorry for the sudden intrusion but I am quite hungry, do you mind sharing a bit of your food with me?"

The men looked at each other and smiled. One of them, the strongest one physically said "of course stranger, join us. My name is Luke, these are my friends Zack and Tom" he gestured at the other two, Zack had messy light brown hair and had a crossbow next to him, while Tom had short brown hair and a shortsword by his side.

After Zuri ate her meal, she pulled her hood up and started walking again she had many thoughts about that event. "He seemed nice, but what if he just pretended? Could I really trust a human after what they've done? I wonder if I'll see him again, or if I even should." She headed towards a village she heard she was nearby. "Obviously I can't go in that village, but maybe someone passes though that I can steal some food from..." she paused "is that what I have become now? A lowly thieve?" She tried to hold back her tears as she walked. She heard some voices coming from the woods and the smell of cooked meat capture her attention. She quietly made her way towards the voices and took a look. Three men around a camp fire, so far nothing she didn't expected. They are talking to someone she couldn't see. She moved to have a clearer view and sure enough, she saw Raventer walking from the woods and sitting with them. she also saw the shield of one of the men, it had a symbol that she recognized with a burning hatred. Three iron bars with hands holding them. The symbol of an infamous slave trading organization. The iron cages. Anger immediately filled her mind. "I knew it, he's working with them. He's evil just like all of them" she was about to leave, as she saw one of those people snuck up behind Raventer with a shack, ready to put him over his head.
