Light approached the doors as Rain opened it. It was humid day. Signs of afternoon showers showing on the long uncut grasses around the building.
Old stench rushed through the nostrils making her cringe. She sneezed so hard, it echoed through the empty building. Covering her mouth she entered through the passage being very careful she doesn't damage anything around her.
The one thing that she had at the moment.
After her grandma passed away, Rain inherited this very old mansion.
The only mansion in Topeka, Kansas.
It was just a month ago when she got a call from the real estate agent that she needed to come and clear out the documents. And thats when she got the news about her grandma. She wasn't very close to her paternal side of the family that much. She lost her parents when she was just 10. She dreaded the moments. Her mothers mother was the only family she had. She nurtured Rain for the woman she was today. Rain was a bright student. She need not worry about her academic works. Intelligence brought her up to high school and then college. She gained a scholarship to The University of London to extend her interest in archeology. Her parents were very famous archeologists. Rain used to accompany her parents in some of the works, taking interest in ancient artifacts since then.
After the tragedy she made a promise that she will uphold the family name.
Her parents had been traveling around the world and never had the chance to get settled in. Their research kept extending as their interest grew.
Thus they were hiring apartments and cottages. Buying a house for themselves was the last thing on their mind till one day while exploring one of the very old sites, the tents got lose and trapped them inside.
Rain was devastated.
