Chapter 21 - The Beast

"Ashley?".....

I was stunned. My breathing stopped and I'm pretty sure my heart stopped beating for a second. Ashley was his mate? I mean, I'm kinda relieved to discover she has a mate but why weren't they together? And what did he mean Jackson took her from him?

Looking up to my mate, I was filled with mixed with emotions - anger, betrayal, hurt, confusion...... The list goes on. And judging by his reaction, Jackson was filled with similar emotions. Was he angry this Jasper guy told me? Or was he worried about how I would react? I don't even know myself how I should react. My heart is aching over the thought that Jackson would hide something like this from me especially if Ashley is involved. But before I should do anything I have to find out the full story. Right?

"Allison, let me explain please?" His angelic voice broke me out of my thoughts and back to reality. Standing still like a 20th century statue, I took a step back and closed my eyes. Taking a deep breath in, I opened my eyes after a moment and turned my body so I was face to face with my mate.

"Please explain to me what he is talking about" I whispered out, my eyes set on Jackson. I studied his body language, his fists were now shut tight, his muscular body tense showing clear signs that he was mad. Taking a moment of silence, he was thinking about what next to say. I tapped my foot loudly as I waited impatientely for an answer, my arms crossed against my chest.

"Let's go home, I'll explain everything there" he finally spoke up as his eyes met mine once more. I wanted to say no, to tell him I wasn't leaving with an explanation. But something inside me told me that wasn't a good idea, that I should just let it go for now. But how could I? I wanted to understand what the hell this Jasper guy was talking about, why Jackson suddenly went pale when he brought this conversation up. And the smug look in his face told me I wouldn't like what I was going to hear. But I knew whatever it was, whatever my reaction was going to be, Jasper would enjoy even moment of it just like his doing now.

I didn't even have the time to reply to my mate when I heard a loud and disturbing laugh echoing that ally way. Instantly Jackson's head turned towards the man sitting in the dirty ground, his eyes turning back to the blood red they previously were as his wolf once again took over.

Grabbing Jasper by the neck, his claws extracted from his fingers as he slashed the man across the face leaving five long deep and painful looking cuts which was definitely leaving a scar. Blood splattered everywhere as I cringed at the sight of it. Jasper's limb body fell to the ground making a loud bang as his head met with the concrete. But Jackson wasn't finished. Slash after slash, his claws met with the males body like a whip hitting the skin at maximum speed. Each cut was deep as it cut through his skin like a laser.

Trying to protect himself, Jasper attempted to cover his face and body with his arms and legs as he screamed out in agony. But it was useless. The Blood Alpha was in control and there was no stopping him. Jackson was stronger, faster and ruthless then his poor victim who was in the blink of death.

During the whole attack, my body went numb. I froze, unable to move or speak. I should have been youst to seeing violence like this, people have been coming after me for years. Sometimes it even led to wars, many of my pack members being viciously murder in an attempt to protect me, their future Queen. But I never endured something like this before. This was sinister, like something from a horror movie.

Who was this monster before me? Was it Jackson, the loving, caring and good hearted man who made sweet passionate love to me last night? It looked like him, sounded like him, even spoke like him. But it couldn't be. This thing before me was a beast, a blood thirsty animal with no heart or soul. Who enjoyed seeing people suffer and by the looks of it, enjoyed murdering them even more.
