Ducking. Left. Right. Bullets whizzing past. Dropping to the ground sliding in the new mag. Guns blaze in the background as the radio crackles to life.
"Bravo Company, are you receiving? Over."
"Clear, Smith and Jonson are KIA. Requesting reinforcements. Over."
"Negative, Hughes, sorry."
"Okay. Enemies over hill—I'm heading their way, no primary. Over."
"Affirmative, Out."
Lifting his head out of the trench, Private First Class, Matt Hughes, stands and starts running. Smoke billows over the hill above. The ground under his feet gives way. Head slamming into the side of the pit.
Waking up with a raging headache in the bottom of a pit trap is not ideal for anyone. Reaching for his radio, Matt doesn't feel it. Looking around the pit, he sees it! It's broken next to him. While he stands up, he estimates the pit couldn't be more than 10ft high, judging by his own height he could make it if he could stand on something. Unstrapping the backpack, and placing it down, he had was almost enough to get him there. Taking his pistol and ammo, plus the rest of the stuff he needs, he attempts the jump. He grabs the edge of the pit, and pulls himself out. Checking the area for anyone, he draws his H&K usp. With the next step, he hears a snap. As he scans the trees, he sees the hint of a grey uniform. His grip tightens. Firing three perfect shots, the body falls onto the grass in front of him, setting off a claymore.
The blast sends Hughes into a tree where he promptly falls to the ground. Dust settles over him. Oh shit! Anyone would have heard that. Going to stand up, the pain hits him. Broken bones don't heal fast.
Matt sits there trying to make a splint out of sticks and his belt. The enemy troops advance on him. One blond girl walks forward. She pulls her sidearm.
"Goodbye."
How do you explain the feeling of a 45. slug enter your brain? PAINFUL!
