Kakashi had just been peacefully reading his beloved book, which had almost been spoiled by his two ex-students, when he felt a sudden chill. The familiar onslaught of icy goosebumps rolled down his back in waves, and Kakashi narrowed his eyes and abruptly shut his neon orange book.

He knew what this feeling implied, and he had learned to trust its so far accurate predictions of trouble.

"What's wrong, Kakashi-sensei?" asked Sakura, wondering why her sensei had closed his book so suddenly. Naruto and Sakura both knew that Kakashi never, ever closed his precious book unless he was forced to-- and even then, he was still unwilling.

Kakashi shook his head, grinning nonchalantly under his mask. "Sorry, I'm going to have to reject your offer since the Hokage wants me to create and submit a list of formations of the new teams. See you later."

Sakura groaned and turned to Naruto. "I bet he just wants to continue reading his book without any disruptions."

Kakashi chuckled wearily and dismissively waved his hand, letting the duo know he had heard and understood, but honestly didn't care.

The two threw their hands up, resigning to their strange sensei's will and promptly departed toward Ichiraku Ramen, famished after the exertion of retrieving the two bells from him.

Meanwhile, Kakashi teleported to the forest, back to the place he had tested the two shinobi. He pushed his chakra to his nose and other sensors, in an attempt to locate where the unknown threat was.

After mere seconds of searching in the forest, Kakashi allowed a small smirk escape from his taut lips. He leapt into another tree, closer to the source of the uneasek, and placed a hand on his kunai case.

"Who's there?" he called.

His ears pricked as he picked up a soft voice.

"Oh, shut up, Kakashi. You're too loud," someone muttered.

The leaves hindered his vision, so his sight was of no use. But with his heightened hearing, Kakashi could hear the fallen leaves rustling as the person moved. He then analyzed the voice. A female. She had to be in her mid-twenties. She was presumably not from here; her accent was slightly different from the regular Konoha dweller.

He narrowed his eyes, realizing another fact. He didn't recognize this voice and the woman was not from Konoha, yet she knew his name.

Kakashi soundlessly drew a kunai, balancing the cool metal in his fingers. He assumed that she was on the verge of unconsciousness, but he could not find a reasonable explanation as to why. Why would anyone fall asleep in a forest, by herself? Even with the D-rank missions the Genins undertook, there were still many wild beasts that wandered through the woods and attacked travelers.

He sighed and took a risk, treading soundlessly closer to the unknown woman until he was about three meters from her prone form. She laid on her side, curled into a fetal position like a child's.

Kakashi's muscles tensed, ready to spring into action at any moment.

If she were truly asleep, then it would be the perfect time to strike.

. . . . . . . . . .

After a few minutes, the unknown woman was successfully bound.
