(A/N This is our first Divergent story. It is a story of how our favorite Divergent characters go through high school drama and everything. Co-writer is KNSJ.)
A lot can happen in a second. A lot can change in a second. Mainly to a person who thought she was a nobody. I get the chance to have a new start. Get away from the life I never wanted. My name is Beatrice Prior. This is my second chance. I am going to go to Divergent High.
I never felt like I belonged in the school I was at. Then, I found something that could change it all. I was looking through my mom's old stuff when she was my age. She has been going there since middle school. There was this letter in my mom's papers. I am an inquisitive person, so I read it. When I was done reading, I got up from where I was sitting and went to find my parents.
"Why didn't you send us here?" I asked my parents. They were sitting on the couch. My mom was knitting, and my dad was reading the newspaper. Caleb was on the chair reading.
"What are you talking about?" My father asked me. I then handed them the letter.
"Why did you find this?" My mother asked me.
"I found it in the junk in the attic. " I said.
"Well, I don't know why we didn't. We just forgot all about that school, and we wanted to watch you guys grow up." My mom said.
"Well.... I want to go there." I spoke.
"Where?" Caleb asked, putting down the book he was reading.
"Divergent High." I told him. I then pulled out my phone and showed him the school online.
"This place looks cool. I want to go see this school." Caleb said, looking at my phone.
"No. You guys are in school now." My dad said.
"Dad, please. I want to go to this school. I hate my school, and everyone except Austin and Caleb talks to me." I told them.
"What about the football team?" He asked me.
"I tutor them. Most of the time, they just hang out with me because of Austin." I told them.
"Andrew, I don't see why they can't attend that school. We went there so they could go. I will call the school and make a day for you to see it. Then I will call your school to tell them you will transfer to a new school." My mom said. My dad knew there was a way he would win this.
It has been a while since I found out about Divergent High. Today is my last day at my old school. I then will be going to Divergent High. I woke up to my alarms on the previous day. I was smiling. I am finally getting away from my pain and finding some happiness. I was getting ready when I heard my brother.
"Beatrice, your boy is here," Caleb yelled upstairs.
"Be right down." I yelled back. I quickly got ready and headed down to see Austin sitting at the table. My family always called him my boy. He has always been in my life. I smiled when I saw him. Leaving that school was nice, but I'm sad I will leave him. I will be living at my new school. It is a boarding school. I quickly ate my breakfast. I said goodbye to my mom and dad. Then I and Austin started to walk to school. My last walk.
"Okay. I know that you don't want to make this all sad." He said, walking.
"No tears. Because this isn't goodbyes." I said, smiling at him.
"Yeah. It's just I am going to be left with these assholes while you are away. My true friend. I don't know what I am going to do." He said, looking to the ground.
"I know, and I am sorry. But you know that I am not happy. I hate leaving you." I said.
"I know that. That is why you have to go. It will be good for you. We still have Skype, text, calling, etc." He said, smiling at me.
