Emily's POV
It was 3:33 in the morning when I woke up. My back was aching and so was my head. I felt like there was so much pressure in my head that it would explode. I sit up flinging the covers off my body and swing my legs off the bed. I rub my back trying to ease the pain. I didn't want to wake Daniel up he had a rough day at work. Two people dropped his propositions and his car had a flat tire on the way home. He eventually changed it but not until after he smashed his finger in the jack when he was lifting the car up tp change the flat. He was also up since five this morning so I decided to let him rest instead of have him rub my back.
I stood up and wobbled toward the bathroom. I stared at my tired self in the mirror. My reflection was not one people normally are pleased to see. My hair was sticking up and out in all different directions and at the ends were knots. My eyes were also a sore sight. I had dark bags under them and my actual eye was bloodshot red from the lack of sleep. I haven't been sleeping these past couple days. The baby kept kicking and my back would ache. Or if not that I would just feel nauseated from my medications. I would wake up countless times a night and it was not helping me. I guess beauty sleep is real. I thought. I sure need more of it.
I walked out of the bathroom turning off the light, causing the room to be engulfed by darkness. I allow my eyes to adjust then feel for my dresser and make my way downstairs. I reach the door of my bedroom and stub my toe on the door jam.
"Ouch!" I yelped. I quickly looked to see if I had woken Daniel up. Nope. He was still bundled up in the blankets, looking like a shadowy lump. Once I saw he was still asleep I continued my quiet trek to the kitchen.
I make it down the stairs and turn on the kitchen light. Everything was so quiet and peaceful. Every time I stepped and the floor creaked I felt like I was ruining natures rest. For every creak I said a silent sorry. I warm up a cup of peppermint tea and lean against the table flipping through today's mail. Bill. Bill. Bill. Oo mail. I pick up a pink envelope and look who it is from. There was no name or return address but it was addressed to me. The pain in my back forces me to sit. I get comfortable and open the letter; trying to be careful but still tearing it here and there. Once its opened I pull out its contents which is three pages of a handwritten letter. I figured I better get more comfortable so I pick up my tea and the letter and move to the living room couch. I sit, cozied up, and begin to read.
Dear Amanda,
My name is Laura. Do you remember me? I was working at a strip club when you came in. Aiden was working the bars counter and the place was practically empty. Apparently there was a big deal that was going down between you and the boss man. You said that Ashley, Ashley Davenport, was sick and you were taking her place. That was very kind by the way. No one ever wants to fill in for one of us.
Well anyway things happened and you ended up saving Aiden from almost being shot. You were on your way out when you saw me in the corner. A man was near me and he was being very 'rude' and he was drunk. I was scared of him. I guess you noticed that because you came up to me and the man. You didn't even say anything but just punched him in the face. He hit you back but you didn't take any more of that. You bent him over and kneed him in the chest. Then gave him a few good punches, leaving him on the floor. You took me by the hand and we ran out. I ended up spending the night with you at your hotel. You had a big shiner on your eye from the punch but you said it was worth it because you made a friend out of it. We ended up sticking together helping save other girls that were trapped in that type of work. You left abruptly and I thought something bad happened to you. I ended up looking you up aand found you were in Juvie. I wondered when all that junk you pulled was going to get you into jail. I guess it finally happened.
Well when you were released I searched for you and found you. Well who I thought was you anyway. I met the real Emily Thorne. She's really nice and kind. Well anyway she didn't even hesitate in telling me who the real Amanda was...now. She said it was only because I knew you before you became Emily and we were good friends. I'm glad I found you. I want to repay you for everything that you've done. I'm in the Hamptons for awhile so maybe we can meet up. Here's my number:
(702) 536- 6933
Give me a call when you can. Thanks for everything!
Yours Truly,
Laura
