The window

You lay under the covers of the old bed. It's a hot summer night but you left your window open and now you can feel the fresh cold night air on your face.
'The camping trip has been nice so far', you think to yourself. You can hear one of your friends quietly snoring from the other room and smile.
You are content with life.
As you slowly start drifting to sleep, you hear a sound coming from outside.

"Hee hee".

You bolt awake.

Then, silence.

You cautiously lay still, listening for movement. It feels like hours have gone by.
Maybe you imagined it? You close your eyes again.

"Hee hee".

But this time, it's closer. You come to a terrifying conclusion.

'Its at the window'.

You can feel eyes on you but you don't dare to look. The wind outside is quietly humming and the crickets are singing in the night. It's a normal, lazy summer night.
Or is it?
You slowly and cautiously sit up on your bed, looking up to see through the open window.
You freeze in terror.
There's a face, right in front of you.
As pale as a ghost. As still as a statue. You stare at him.
He stares at you. You turn around a run out of the room, barging into the room of one of your friends.
You only find his dead body.
You run to another room, only to find out all of your friends met the same fate. The man had a plan and he was 3 steps ahead of you.

"Hee hee".

Your breath comes in short, ragged gasps.
'He's inside'.
You can only hope he kills you quickly.

"Hee hee". He's behind you.

And as darkness envelops you, your final thoughts are focused on him. He had everything planned from the begging. You shudder.
As you die, you realize what happened.

You've been struck by a smooth criminal
