"It would seem you have abilities that are needed and fall in the realm of a god or goddess' dominion." Hel sat down on a chair leaning towards Brian.
Brian looked at the gathered beings "Dominion? I am a scholar. I am only as religious as I need to be for my research."
Walfrus patted Brian's shoulder "They are religious enough Brian. Once they have you in focus you can expect some adventure."
"How? I mean you don't just see gods walking the streets." Brian looked at Hel "Usually."
Hel nodded "My dominion allows me and mine more access to this world, but as you can see I am not in my more normal form."
"I don't understand."
Tick-tock landed on the table "Allow me." Tick-tock opened his mouth and a small flame appeared but images appeared flickering.
"Major gods and heads of pantheons are not able to walk the mortal planes in their true forms due to the immense power they contain and represent." The voice was Tick-tock's and the images flashed from Greek, African, Roman, Indian gods and goddesses.
"There are many gods for the same dominions, just different pantheons." Images of Hel, Hades, Anubis, Morrighan, flashed through the images.
Walfrus nodded "This explains the other trickster. Loki recruited someone to help him."
The images continued " The gods could travel the mortal realms but as lesser powered versions of themselves, aspects of those powers. They often kept the majority of their power close at hand in the form of a trinket, amulet or weapon."
The images now cycled through a hammer, a sheaf of wheat, a club and bronze chisel."Sometimes if the god was separated from this item for too long the item would be imbued with this power, even after the power was taken or reabsorbed."
The image settled on a wood mask that shifted in colors and textures. "In this case Loki's Mask. These were able to be wielded by mortals and if they could unlock all of it's potential it could be devastating. Especially if the god then reabsorbed the powers again"
"This still doesn't explain me and this Chosen thing!" Brain interrupted Tick-tock looked at Brian, momentarily blinding him with the light. "I am getting to that!"Tick-tock resumed his presentation "Gods could find someone who had a piece of their essence in blood or spirit and work through them in visions and dreams. In rare instances appear directly."
Hel spoke up "But since father was bound he had someone else do this for him, but how did he even contact them"
"That's easy" said Walfrus "They contacted him. Probably offered to free him and then together they put wards up that even Heimdall couldn't see through in order to hide themselves."
"But someone must have seen something" continued Tick-tock.
Various gods flashed in the flames "but who? Who has taken an interest in this and in Brian." The final image settles on a picture of Brian at crossroads, in the center median a street sign displaying 'Your Future'.
"So, Brian, any ideas?" Walfrus sat back and waited.
