Chapter 9

I sat outside the library, waiting for Cass to arrive. She had dance before my tutoring so she would be a little late. I had been waiting for 10 minutes now. The sound of someone giggling made me look up from my book. My eyes grew wide as i saw Jeff with his arm wrapped around Cass’ shoulder. He was whispering something in her ear and she giggled. I frowned. What in the-?

Cass looked at me and saw my frown. Her smile immediately disappeared and she went to me, leaving Jeff alone. He pulled her back to plant a kiss on her pouty lips. She blushed as he let her go. I saw the smug expression and i knew it was meant for me. I fumed. Cass was a lovely girl and if he did anything to her, i would break his arm.

“I’m sorry about that,” Cass apologised, blushing prettily.

I reassured her with a smile. “No worries. Let’s get started, shall we?”

She brightened up. “Okay.”

We studied for a whole hour and i have to say Cass was improving much more than Dave. I knew that Dave had gotten a B for his maths. But, after that maths test, he had gotten less serious during our tutoring sessions which caused him to get a D on the latest test.

“You’re getting better,” i remarked, smiling.

Cass’ blue eyes twinkled. “Thanks. It’s all because of you.”

I shook my head. “You worked hard too. I’m proud of you.”

“Thank you,” she said, blushing. “Julia, can i ask you something?”

I raised an eyebrow. “What is it?”

“You and Jeff used to go out and all. I hope it’s not weird that you saw us like that just now,” she said shyly.

“No, it’s not weird. Jeff and I are over a long time ago,” I assured her, shrugging. “But, I want you to be careful.”

Her blue eyes looked trustingly at me. “I will.”

“Hey, babe, you done?” i heard Jeff asked as he appeared from a corner.

I glared at him as he gave Cass one of his heartbreaker smiles. I really wanted to scratch that stupid smile off his face. Cass deserved someone much better than he. Cass got out of her seat and went into his arms, letting him kiss her. It made me sick just looking at them.

“Give me a minute. I need to go to the loo,” Cass said.

Jeff tweaked her nose and kissed it tenderly. “I’ll be waiting.”

Cass walked off to the toilet and i turned my icy gaze to Jeff who was leaning against the wall. He looked at me, hands in his pocket. His sandy hair fell into his eyes and his bright blue eyes still stole my breath away. He was as good-looking as ever and still, an ass.

“What are you trying to do?” i asked, angrily.

Jeff raised his eyebrows, trying to look innocent. “What?”

“Don’t act dumb. I know you’re not serious about Cass,” i said, pointing an accusing finger at him.

“I miss how you get so frustrated so easily,” he teased, pushing my finger away from his face. “Who says i’m not serious about her?”

“If you do anything to her, I swear i will break your bones,” i threatened, my hands clenched at my sides.

Jeff leaned in and i saw the anger in those blue depths. “Or you could just ask your little boyfriend to do it for you, princess.”

I fumed, my fingers itching to claw his face. “Dave is not my boyfriend.”

Jeff opened his mouth to speak but immediately leaned away from me when we heard the toilet door squeak open. Cass walked out, looking so innocent. I glared at Jeff, hating him for playing around with Cass. She was such a naive little girl. I remembered when i was 13. I would do anything to have an older guy ask me out.
