A storm had been brewing for days over the countryside.
The skies were dark and racing, the colors of bruises swirling around and around. Purple, blue, black, green, yellow. Scary to some, normal to others.
A lone van drove on the roads, the dark windows concealing any sign of life that might have been inside. The dark blue car drove up and over hills, next to fields, through towns, and seemingly into nowhere. A faint noise came from inside, a low buzz and occasional beat drop of some song.
And though it seemed empty from the outside, inside the party raged on. An astronomy club from out of state travelled further and further towards the storm. Oblivious to everything but their club members, they drove and drove. Music, snacks, yelling, sleeping. Young high schoolers just wanting to see the stars.
Little did they know that the stars would seem far, far away in just a few hours...
