With one gulp, Elsie drank a shot of Ksh 125,000 King George V brandy. She felt the spirit descend her oesophagus rather painfully.
Just a mere two weeks earlier she had been back at Teso high, in her fourth and final week of the national KCSE exam, that marked the end of high school. Thank God it was now over. She was now free to party and do whatever she pleased, like any other eighteen year old. Elsie was suddenly pulled from the highly polished marble counter. She turned around to find Kamene, her best friend, having completely lost herself in the music.
"Come, lets dance the night away! " She said.
Elsie agreed hapilly and ran off into the overly crowded dance floor.
The Maasai club was the hottest club in Nairobi. Elsie and her thee pals had no hard time getting into the club. True, money talks and in the clubbing scene, no hand could not be greased, with the right amount of course. This being so, Elsie had a breeze getting in. Her parents were extremely loaded and she had limitless access to the family wealth. A plus for her social scene.
Elsie and her friends were completely intoxicated;a shot here, a puff there, a sip of this and a few pills, had left them pretty high. They were just letting loose after a long period of strict rules and tight schedules.
Elsie was swinging her hips and moving her body in seductive motions. Her soft features and flawless beauty added to the sexy she exuded. She was an obvious hit on the dance floor. More and more people desired to dance next to her. They were all hungry for the Afro beat music that DJ Insomnia so generously dished out. The club today was on fire!
On the corner of her eye, Elsie saw a guy standing at the other side of the club. The area was dimly lit, and the guy wore a cup, with "7's" written on it. He wore all black and gave an enigmatic smile once his and Elsie's eyes locked.
Elsie was impressed.
She turned to the other side and prepared to play her usual 'bait and tease' foolproof game. Kamene, wasted as hell, looked at Elsie with questioning eyes.
"How could you leave THAT? " she asked.
Elsie chuckled. She waved Kamene off and turned to her back. Elsie was perplexed. She almost screamed.
The guy was right in front of her. No more than five inches from her. For the first time, she didn't know what to do in front of a boy.
She could feel herself blushing. Wow! That was a first for her.
She felt rooted to the ground. Smiling, he took her by her waist and pulled her towards himself. Elsie knew she should object or move way but she didn't. She couldn't. She let him guide her.
She lost herself to him.
In no time, the two were grinding and bumping on the dance floor. This was the life. Elsie was loving it. They just let themselves feel and enjoy the moment.
All of a sudden, Elsie felt a sharp jab, like a scorpion's sting, on her neck. Her vision became blurry and her movements sloppy. Trying to regain her balance, she turned around to face the guy.
She could have sworn she saw him flash an evil smile before everything went black.
