The Letter

I hurry through the door. I hope that the letter would have come today. I needs to get the letter before my mother can find it. Alisa grabs the mail and walks through the door. I see a cream envelope sticking out of the pile and I squeal. "It's here!" I excitedly whisper to myself.

Cassandra, the housekeeper, looks at me weirdly. "My letter for the selection came!" Alisa explains excitedly.

Cassandra nods. "You better fill it out before your mother finds out, but tell your father. He'll be proud of you," Cassandra says.

I nod and knock on the door to my father's study. My father is the mayor of Allens. "Come in Alisa," my father says.

"My letter for the selection came," I say.

My father smiles. "Good! I'd fill it out before your mother gets home," he says.

Alisa nods and hurries to her room to fill out the form. The form is really straightforward.
Name: Alisa Katherine Fredricks
Age: 18
Province: Allens
Caste: 2
Talents: horseback riding, modeling, volunteering, writing, volleyball, tennis
Other information: I started a program called Kid Kicks where I try to get sports programs into every school in Illéa. I'm on a club volleyball team.
Hair color: blondish, brownish
Eye color: green
Height: 5'6
Weight: 125 lbs
Languages spoken: English, French, Spanish, German

After I fill the form out, I change into a emerald green sundress and low black heels because I had heard that they were taking pictures. I put a little bit of make up on, but enough to seem natural. I curl my hair and put it into a bun. I walk downstairs and knock on my father's study door. "I'm going to take my form and get my picture taken," I tell my father.

He nods. I open the door and walk to the post office. The post office is about a block from my house. There is a small line of girls waiting. I get in line and think, wow I got here in time, after a crowd of people get in line behind me. "Next," a man says and it is soon my turn.

I hand him my application form and smile brightly for the camera. After my picture has been taken, I walk back to my house. I see my mother's car in the driveway and my smile fades. I had been hoping that I could change back into my school clothes before my mother got back. I hear my mother's high heels on the hardwood floor as soon as I walk through the door. "Alisa! Where have you been?" she sharply asks me.

She then notices the clothes I was wearing and gasps. "You didn't sign up for the selection did you?" my mother angrily asks.

I look at the ground. "What have I told you? No entering in the selection. I'm disappointed in you, young lady," my mother shouts.

I feel hot tears running down my cheeks. My father steps out of his study. "Kriss!" he says angrily.
