Jenna’s POV
RINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
My alarm rang. I checked the time on my phone. 7:00a.m. Argg, why did I set my alarm so early? Just before I lay back down to sleep… You say I’m crazy, cause you don’t think I know what you’ve done. But when you call me baby, I know I’m not the only one, ‘Stupid ringtone’ I screamed. I didn’t really mean that, of course, I’m just not a morning person.
‘Who is this! ’ I yelled into my phone. ‘Good morning to you too,’ Cassie said calmly. ‘What do you want?’ I asked, still pissed off at her for calling me at 7am. ‘Someone’s not in a good mood,’ she said, chuckling. ‘Just get to the fucking point,’ I said, not wanting to deal with her right now. ‘Ok then, Jenna, it’s that day of the year that we hate most, it’s the first day of school,’ Cas replied me with a teasing voice.
‘Wait. WHAT? It’s the first day of school? Today? You’ve gotta be kidding me.’ I asked, panicking. ‘Now why would I kid about something like this?’ she asked, innocently. ‘Anyway, I’ll pick you up at 7:30 sharp! I’m not gonna wait for you, so you better get your lazy ass up and get ready.’ she ordered before hanging up on me.
Unlike other girls, I need only 20 minutes to get ready for school. I mean I never cared much about fashion. My style is simple, it’s just whatever top I could find in my closet that wasn’t wrinkled or stained, skinny jeans with an old pair of converse. I don’t really care about my hair either, I just leave it down, and thank god that my hair is straight and soft, so I don’t need to put too much time and effort on it.
I’ve started packing up my bag when I heard Cassie’s car coming up to the pavement of my house. BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! I smiled as I imagine an impatient Cassie pressing her horn over and over again. BEEP! BEEP! ‘Okay, okay, I’m coming.’ I said out loud and chuckle as I go downstairs to grab a granola bar before leaving.
‘You do know that it’s like 7 in the morning and the everyone is still sleeping in the neighbourhood right?’ I asked Cassie as I got on her car. ‘You do know that if you have been here waiting for me at 7:30, like I said when I called you, I won’t need to bother them, right?’ she said pointedly as she drives out of the driveway. Leave it to Cassie to blame me for everything, I thought as I rolled my eyes.
Frosterhill High, Where Young Mind Grows, Tender Hearts Open and Inspired Life Begins. Bullshit. This is one of the shittiest school mottos I’ve ever heard, I thought as Cassie drove into the parking lot of our school. Our school changes its motto every year, and it just gets worse and worse each year…
Lucas’s POV
‘Man, aren’t you excited? I mean look at all those smoking hot chicks here!’ my friend Jaden said as he opened the window of my car and whistled to the girls walking by. ‘Chill, dude.’ I said, annoyed. ‘We could always get hot girls in the beach instead of coming back to the hellhole.’
I parked my car, took my football jacket, and walked out. ‘Don’t be such a downer,’ Jaden said and punched my arms. ‘Look on the bright side, many girls to choose from, right?’ he asked and swung his backpack and started to walk towards the main building.
‘The girls here are no fun, I mean, I could get any girl I want here,’ I said, walking next to Jaden. ‘So sure of yourself, huh?’ Jaden asked, giving me a sideway glance and smirked at me. ‘Always,’ I replied with a confident smile.
Here’s the thing about popularity, it builds up your confidence. 3 years ago, when I was still that gawky boy that no one likes, I wasn’t even brave enough to ask my classmate to borrow a pencil, but now, looking back, I couldn’t believe how much self-confidence I lacked. I mean, the now me could totally just walk up to a random girl and ask for her number.
‘Hey,’ Jaden said, ‘did you hear me?’ he asked and slapped my arm. ‘Ow, sorry, I was spacing out, what did you say?’ I asked. ‘I said, I bet you 100 bucks that you couldn’t get any girl in 2 weeks,’ he said. ‘I betcha I can,’ I said, sure of myself. I’m the quarterback of the school, I’m popular, hot and have an attractive 6-pack body, I’m like the whole package! I mean, who wouldn’t want to date me? I know I’m over-confident, but what’s not to praise about me? I’m literally perfect.
‘Oof,’ a girl said as she accidentally bumped into me and dropped all her books and fell down. Could she be anymore clumsier? I smirked and looked at her face, dark blonde and a flat everything body, definitely not my type. But being the gentlemen I am, I held out my hand to her, ‘Need help?’ I asked. She looked up at me and gave me a death glare, ‘Watch where you’re going!’ she yelled, picking up all her books and left.
‘Well, well, well, looks like somebody doesn’t like you much, huh?’ Jaden asked, looking at the girl’s back as she rushed away from us. ‘Who is that girl anyways,’ I asked, not liking the idea that a girl doesn’t like me. ‘Dunno. Jenny, Jenna, something like that,’ Jaden said, thinking.
Interesting, a girl that rejects me, she should be fun.
‘Hey, remember our bet?’ I asked Jaden. ‘What about it?’ he asked, confused. ‘I think my next target could be her, ’I said, ‘give me 2 weeks, and she would be crawling under my knees,’ I said, knowing that I could get her easily. Why? Because I, Lucas Rogue, always gets what he wants.
