Gilbert sat smiling on the afternoon, twirling the flower from the coffee shop he had gone to with Winifred. He had a wonderful time talking with her, and he was quite fond of her now. As for Anne, she slowly walked towards Gilbert on the train, completely dumbfounded and traumatized from what she had just experienced. "Thank you, Gilbert." Anne whispered. Gilbert continued to hold hands with Anne until they reached home. Anne got up first, letting go of his hand and walking towards the exit. Gilbert examined his hand, having only one thought. He knew that would not be the last time he held the hand of Anne Shirley Cuthbert.
