Chapter 1

I started feeling woozy, my head started spinning as I could feel my legs giving way to the rubble and dirt below me as the masculine voice coming from my phone "Miss Grey, can you hear me?.. Miss Grey?" They sounded worried for me. I sat on some concrete steps holding onto the hard black railing attached from them, letting my phone fall to the ground as it suddenly started pouring down of rain. I sat there for awhile soaking wet staring at the cloudy grey sky, I was almost in a trance until someone grabbed both my arms. I jumped at the touch and realised it was my step-sister Lexi. "Melinda? Melinda lets get you out of here" she said pulling me towards a Black four by four parked just meters away from where I sat.

I sat on a blanket while she wrapped another round me as hopped in the other side beside me "how did you know where I was" I asked looking at her and then Alex who was driving "find my friend. Your doctor called me after he got disconnected to you. He didn't say what was going on just said I had to find you and get you to the hospital. What's going on Melinda" she asked trying to dry me off a little as I started shaking from the cold.

I couldn't string a sentence together as I sat in the car, it was all mumble jumble coming out of my mouth as I tried hard to explain.

Soon we arrived at the hospital and I got out running leaving the door wide open with Lexi on my heels. "I got a call from Dr Tait" I said to the receptionist skipping the already annoyed patients waiting their turn. Another receptionist picked up the phone and spoke in the speaker for Dr Tait to come to the front. Knowing that I wouldn't budge with the look at me, dripping on the floor.

Dr Tait came to the front "ah Miss Grey.. you had me worried.. please follow me." He said with a small smile holding a big brown door open for me to go through. Lexi followed behind me. Dr Tait led me to a small room that was filled with dull chairs and blank off-white walls. "Please have a seat.." he started "no. I want to see my brother" it came out harsher than I meant. "Miss Grey , I understand what you must be feeling at the moment but I must prepare you first. Your brother was in a terrible accident, there has been severe complications during his emergency surgery.." he stopped talking waiting for me to say something looking at Lexi and then myself. I just stared at him saying nothing. He nodded. " Your brother had major bleeding in the brain and swelling. We tried to do everything we could but it wasn't enough. I'm sorry Miss Grey, but your brother died during surgery on the table. I can take you to see him and you can take as long as you like with him, but you may not recognise him." He spoke taking a step towards me. "Take me to him" I whispered, my hands trembling while my head spins again..
