Hikaru woke to the screeching of his alarm. He groaned rolling around in the soft grey blanket before turning off his alarm and stumbling out of bed.
His phone was lying on the floor, he must have fallen asleep last night and not realised it.
He walked over to his dresser and got changed into the school uniform, black pants, white shirt, black tie and blazer her never wore. Once he was done he attempted to comb his light brown hair as best he could but it stayed messy as always.
Sighing he walked out of the door and into the small kitchen where his dad was already sitting with a cup of coffee and phone in front of him.
"Hey kid" he greeted tiredly as Hikaru entered.
"Hey" Hikaru replied grabbing a cup and chucking in a teaspoon of coffee powder.
He found the jug recently heated and poured in the steaming hot water before adding some milk. He made some toast and slathered jam on it before taking a seat opposite his father.
Hikaru's father worked in an office and the years of sitting at a desk were wearing off on him. The lines of his face were becoming deeper and more defined. His hair was developing streaks of grey and his eyes always seemed dull and tired.
Hikaru began to eat his toast, checking the time he realised it was 8:40. He finished the rest of his toast quickly and took a sip of his coffee before grabbing his bag an rushing out the door.
On the other side of the street Hikaru noticed two girls walking side by side happily talking to each other. The school uniform for girls was a white shirt and short black pleated skirt with any kind of socks. This was great for most guys but Hikaru had never really been interested in any girls.
Hikaru kicked a pebble and watched as it hopped across the pavement before falling into the grungy gutter.
Hikaru and his father lived in a small flat on a average street, he knew some kids who owned whole houses in nice parts of town, but he counted himself lucky to have a home.
He turned the corner and walked up a few more familiar streets before reaching the open school gates.
The school wasnt massive like you'd see in some big towns like the center of Tokyo, It was only two stories and made of fading brick.
The bell rang just as he stepped foot on the school grounds, he quickened his pace and hurried to his first class.
He pushed open the door and looked around for an empty seat, there was one beside Takashi Chidori, the boy everyone admired. He had neatly parted shiny black hair and dark blue eyes framed by glasses. He was always completely focused on his work in class and when he talked to people he had perfect smile to go with it.
Hikaru pulled out the chair and sat down, he couldnt understand why his heart had begun to beat faster.
"Well I may start my lesson now" the maths teacher said looking pointedly at Hikaru.
Hikaru didnt look back and busied himself with grabbing his maths books, he wasnt used to sitting up the front and it made him nervous.

Hikaru drained the last of his chocolate milk and chucked it at the nearby bin, it hit the side and fell onto the grass below. Hikaru sighed and continued to go on his phone, he was sitting near the school gates leaned agaisnt a tree where he normally went.
"Are you going to pick that up?"
Hikaru looked up surprised to see Takashi looking down at him.
"Uh...uhmm, y-yeah sorry" Hikaru stuttered quickly standing and picking up the empty cartoon to put it in the bin.
When Hikaru looked up again he saw Takashi had a small smile on his face.
"What?" Hikaru asked holding his hands together nervously.
"Arent you a bit too old to be drinking chocolate milk?" he teased.
Hikaru looked away as he felt his cheeks burning, "n-no" he mumbled quietly.
Hikaru heard Takashi give a small laugh before walking away. He returned to his tree and couldnt stop thinking about what had just happened.

Takashi pushed open the door to the school library and found a small corner at the back where he laid out his books and began to study. To his surprise his mind kept wavering to the messy haired boy he had talked to just before. The way he'd been blushing and his nervous nature was so cute. Takashi shook his head slightly and returned to his studies.
***
Takashi walked down the street, the sky was clouded and rain seemed to be imminent, he wanted to get home before it started. As he walked he noticed someone on the other side, looking around in interest he saw the same boy from before walking with headphones and arms folded.
***
The boy caught his eyes and Takashi tilted his head to the side giving him a smile. The boys eyes widened slightly and he turned away his cheeks flashing bright red. Takashi laughed and continued to walk home.
***
Hikaru lay on his bed staring up at the plain white ceiling. Why had Takashi smiled at him like that and why the hell did he have to react so stupidly. He thought of his deep blue eyes and almost mischievous grin. Rolling his eyes he picked up his phone and began to look through youtube.
