Long ago, before the Multiverse grew, there was the Original. Nobody knew where it came from, just that it was there, sitting quietly. It had been protected by many guardians who came and went. Some even attempted to get into the AU and explore it. No one would ever return from these voyages. The tale of it lived for a long while, but eventually faded away. At least, until now...
Ink sat, reviewing and tallying up AUs. He hummed to himself, smiling as the number was in the thousands. His vision was blinded by a large... cold on his head, and he felt it drop onto the paper as well, ruining his tallies. Ink sighed and wiped his hand in front of his eye sockets, confused. It dripped on him again, and this time he looked up, wiping his shoulder off. There, above him was an AU he'd never seen before. Ink smiled at first, then it slowly faded as he noticed that the portal had a broken code, and was dripping this black liquid. It reminded him of... Ink turned around at a swishing sound, finding a beaten Dream smiling softly. "Hello, Ink. How are you?" He said tiredly. Ink smiled wide and walked over to him, carrying him. Dream made a noise of protest, but Ink ignored him, walking back to where he was before. "Look up!" What is that...?" Ink shrugged, finally setting down a wiggling Dream. "It looks like a corrupted AU, but it also reminds me of your brother. Dream glared. "Should we go inside?" Ink asked, already moving to enter. Dream grabbed his shoulder, looking grim.             "Something isn't right. I don't feel anything coming from that AU, except..." he seemed to toss his words around in his head before finally speaking. "I feel the influence of my brother." Ink looked back up. The black liquid seemed... closer now, headed toward Dream. "I think he can sense you too." Dream watched the portal, thinking. "We should probably stay away for-" Dream had no time to finish; the corrupted AU above them had seemed to get closer faster, tendrils reaching out and grabbing Dream, wrapping in a cocoon-like hold. Ink reached towards Dream, yelling hopelessly as his friend was dragged into the unknown. He fell to his knees, feeling tears pool up. He grabbed a vial, a purple one and drank some. Creativity flowed through him, as did ideas to save Dream. He grabbed his paintbrush and put it on his back, jumping into an AU he knew was powerful:

UnderSwap.
