Demi's POV

I watch as Jade scurries over to the car with a look of anxiety on his face.
I don't even speak when he asks me about my ordeal. I'm being ludicrous right now. I know that. But, the compulsion to fume has taken toll on me. The thought of Malibu being my mate makes it worse.
The ride back home appears to be so long and tiresome. I am too tired to say a word. However, I know Jade is dying to hear from me
"Are you okay?' He asks
"Yeah"

"Will you tell me what happened to you back there?"
"Yeah, later."
Im in no mood to talk about it right now.
"Ugh these small talk is not helpful."
He says exasperated.
I turn on the radio to avoid his nagging.

He looks at me quizzically but before he says another word, my eyes travel to the rear mirror and I see three limos trailing behind us.
"Jade, are we in any kind of trouble? Why do you think they are following us ."  I say cautiously
Jade's attention also shifts to the cars behind us.
"Should we stop and find out who they are?" I inquire
"No, let's just keep driving. They could be enemies. We cannot take any chances. "

We keep moving faster but the cars behind us keep track.
We are now a few minutes from our house so Jade decides to slow down. The cars catch up with ours and to my surprise, I see Kevin smiling at me from one of the cars and he gestures to Jade to keep driving.

What the hell is going on here.

We finally reach our apartment and Jade packs our car at the garage. I promptly get out of the car and rush to hear from Kevin. Why the hell does he have to follow me around. I need answers right now.

"What's this all about Kevin?" I ask furiously. "Why I'm I being followed again?"
He holds up his hands in surrender then says.
"I'm sorry Demi. I know we are not the best of friends here but orders are orders. I'm just following orders from Alpha Malibu. It was his idea to escort you home."  He explains but I feel uneasy about it.
"Excuse me? Is this what happens to all new employees or are we exeptional?"
I ask him.
"I'm afraid we never do this to any employee. Alpha has his own reasons."

"His own reasons?" Jade asks furiously while moving towards Kevin. I don't want this to go far because I'm already tired and I know Malibu's reasons.
I take Jade's hand into mine and pull him back so he's now facing me.
"Let's go now." I say while walking into the house.
Kevin and his crew are still staring at us seeming unsure of what to do. I turn around and give them a smirk then say
"Go home now kids.  Tell your master to get you something better to do."
I say sarcastically. I can see Kevin's expression turn to pure furry. I know he's pissed of as fuck and that kind of brings a satisfactory smile on my face.

With that, I shut the door and run upstairs for a shower.
This day has been so surreal.
Thirty minutes later, I get back to the dinning room table for dinner. Midway through it, I feel something unusual in the room. I sniff the air and sure enough, someone else is in the room.
Alarmed, I stand up and begin searching throughout the room.
"Demi, is there a problem?"

"I think someone is here." I say while moving towards the sitting room.
"It's a wolf precisely. A tracker." I say after some minutes of sniffing around.
Being the alpha, I cannot miss the scents of my people. Not even the trackers who are so good at consealing their scents.

"Alpha, I'm sorry about the intrusion."
A deep voice from behind me booms.
I turn around and come face to face with Paula, my best tracker.
"Oh Paula, what brings you here at such a time." I ask him.
"Tim says you should have these items. He says they're important for your mission. Jade will tell you more about it. I have to get going. Don't want to cause any suspicion . I can tell your boss has this house on inspection 24/7."
He says while moving towards the back door.
But wait a minute, did he say Malibu is already inspecting me? Why would he do that!
