Homeward Bound

XUI POV

"Xui!....XUI!!!!"  a voice called repeadlty through the fogging haze 

The familiar voice paired with the face came into my view shaking my body 

"Are you aright?"  Slix asked concern worrying  his face

I scrambled up and ran to reach Leena, fighting through my own dizziness and  disorientation. Ignoring everyone and everything around me i dropped down at her side clutching her still form against me

A keening sorrow filled sound erupted from my chest when i looked upon  her numerous  injuries

"NO!!!!!!!" i roared with unabashed unfathomable agony

"Please! No, Please" I pleaded hysterically 

Still she didn't move no matter how i pleaded and despaired. A male crouched beside us suddenly.  I snarled ferociously at his unwanted  presence near my bonded. Jolikk paled, startled by my anger his  fear wafting off him in waves.

"My prince i only wish to check her.  she may still be alive"  he said

Only the promise of Leena living allowed me to release her long  enough for him to check her 

Long moments after checking her, He nodded, relief in his eyes as he looked at me

"She lives but i-"

He was interrupted when a human, Keira ran up beside us.  she looked over Leena lifting her shirt slightly, A grave expression flittered across her face

"She will be fine she is still breathing" Jolikk said to her 

Keira sneered at him irritable

"She will not be. What did they teach you about Human anatomy in your alien school. Or did they only teach you how to experiment on us?" she spat venomously 

Jolikk growled offended at ther words 

I grew increasingly worried with her words, caring nothing  for either of their verbal sparring

"What do you mean? What is wrong with her?"  I watched as her breathing began to labor and she struggled to draw in breath adequately.

 i feared she would not make it

"Please tell me" 

"I have seen many of my people endure this. she is alive but not for long. She has  internal injures; bleeding that will kill her eventually" She stated solemnly 

My own breaths froze with terror.  i could not allow that to happen

I expelled a choked sound clutching her to me tighter. The first tear i ever felt escaped down my face. I couldn't ever remember crying before. When Remio died, my brother, all the torture and torment my father and Uncle subjected me to all these years. None gutted me more than the idea that my love would die

Slix watched me worriedly He knew what i was thinking

If Leena died i would follow. I had little to live for other than her. Most bonded LoQuans followed their mates into death.it was a mercy rather than to live an empty life full of longing and desolation.

I did not even have offspring to keep me wanting to go on. Without Leena i had nothing.

"My Prince" a timid voice said 

Turkkal 

"I know a way we may be able to save her"

I snapped my attention to him
